View Full Version : Thank you Atlanta Reef Club!
tsciarini 02-14-2007, 12:07 AM Well IMO, I think tonights fragging meeting went pretty well... I'd really like to say thank you to all of those that were able to make it out. I think that the majority of folks went home with two (or more) frags and I hope that everyone was able to get what they wanted.
I also wanted to make a special THANK YOU to all those that helped out. We really couldn't of made it through the evening without the help from our members volunteering. The bagging team did a fantastic job keeping up the pace through the entire meeting.
Thank you again and I look forward to more successful meetings in the future!
FishyBusiness 02-14-2007, 12:30 AM Great job!
so when do I get a volunteer bagging team?
mufret 02-14-2007, 12:37 AM I'm sure all you need to do is offer free frags and you'll have us lining up!

I could give you crabs for valentines day! LOL!
Flipturn88 02-14-2007, 12:42 AM Haha - so true, Mike! "Will work for frags" is my motto.
I really enjoyed the meeting, as did Heather. It was great to introduce her to all the people who are helping her out. Thanks to the BoD for getting her a free membership (she was thrilled!), and thanks again to everyone who volunteered to help ensure we had yet another successful frag meeting.
Broreefr 02-14-2007, 1:31 AM Just finished the 162 mile trip home, it was hard to pass by Magic City - no pun intended - but I had to get my livestock home. Really enjoyed the meeting, it was very good to put some faces with some names.
gotta go put the new stuff in the tank, I visited Optimum aquarium, CBA, and Marine Fish, needless to say, I got quite a few baggies I need to dispose of them before the Boss awakes and starts asking about reciepts.
Good Night, eer morning all
And a BIG Thank you to Phillip Root for his presentation, he really is up on his game
Maveri9720 02-14-2007, 1:43 AM I just wanted to say thanks to everyone also. I helped out where I could, but everyone made this work.
I definitely came away with alot of good info, along with some great frags.
It was also good for me to try to put faces with screen names.
Very happy with the meeting and how it turned out and extremely happy and excited about my potential corals.
Thanks again to everyone who made the trip for the meeting and to all those behind-the-scene helpers, keeping everything running smoothly.
Showtime305 02-14-2007, 1:49 AM Great meeting!!
Great meeting! Thanks to Phillip Root from Coral Gardens and to all that helped with behind the scenes, coral bagging, SWU registration, raffles, ARC registration, and sign-in.
I counted about 160 people total, and most people left with 2-4 frags. We raffled off about 8 total gift certificates from an equal number of local sponsor stores (among other items), and had a raffle for a full colony from donated Cappucino Bay Aquarium (congrats jmaneypanda!)!
I've attached some pictures below.
Sprayin70 02-14-2007, 2:37 AM Awesome meeting! I had a great time helping out and getting to know my new friends. Sniff Sniff. LOL. I also wanted to say thank you to all the ARC Board members that made this meeting possible! The frags were top notch and the presentation was outstanding. What more can you say? Now I have to lie awake counting the hours until my lights come on and I get to admire my new pretties. LOL.
BTW great pics Chris!!!
SShindell 02-14-2007, 6:01 AM A great meeting, and by my count, the largest meeting we have ever had in the history of the club.....it was great to see so many new members, and old friends. While the presentation was great....the free frags a big hit....it was the interaction and friendship that was the real hit of the night.
Vettesarebest 02-14-2007, 7:11 AM Awsome meeting!! I cannot wait for next year! Thanks Kayla (Flipturn88) and Chris (JustOneMoreTank) for the great frags and actually fragging them for me!
mfliin 02-14-2007, 7:44 AM What a great meeting...Now if I can just find those bone cutters and scissors, the reef will never be the same again!
Or better yet my buddies reef....I can hear me now: "Don't worry this brain coral will be fine under the wet tile cutter, I've seen this done before".
Maybe I'll wait a day or two first...

Here you can find the bone cutters! www.fostersmith.com (http://www.fostersmith.com)
tsciarini 02-14-2007, 8:08 AM I also wanted to bring a special thanks to Jesse (Broreefr (http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/member.php?u=603)) Wayne (Woflie (http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/member.php?u=456)) for donating the leathers to the club. Thanks for helping out guys! We appreciate it!!!
Great meeting, I'm a newby and really enjoyed meeting everyone and learning about how to frag. I never really knew how rough you can treat the little buggers. I definitely will attend again. I've been a member of many organizations and seldom felt as welcomed as I did last night. Thanks and congratulations on an excellent meeting. I also made my first visit to Cappuccino Bay Aquarium and I must have looked like a kid in a candy store. They are bad for accepting credit cards! lol:wow2:
Jeff
jessezm 02-14-2007, 8:29 AM Welcome to the ARC, Jeff! Great to meet you (and everyone else) last night, I'm glad we have more representation in Macon now (more about that later...)
Folks, what a wonderful club to be a part of! I hope to see you all at Saltwater U3!
flyingarmy 02-14-2007, 8:29 AM I just wanted to also chime in and give kudos to ARC for a very informative and helpful frag'n demonstration. It was my first meeting and I am definitely looking forward to the next one. Thanks again!
My only suggestion would be to have name tags for each member, i.e. screen name/real name so we can easily ID others. I spent most of the time looking for a guy in a green polo and some who was a previous mechanic on UH-1's! Not an easy task! :D If you need donations to support the name tags just let me know.
rhomer 02-14-2007, 8:36 AM Thanks ARC, what a great time, that is by far the best meeting I've attended.
Quick question is there a thread for the donations to Ms. K?
I had a wonderful time, ti was great meeting people that I have talked to on the forums. Great Job.
Xyzpdq0121 02-14-2007, 9:09 AM RHomer, DO you mean donations to Heather... If so, the thread is in the main reef discussion.
rhomer 02-14-2007, 9:10 AM Yep that's what I meant. I was bagging most of the night and didn't catch her name. Thought I heard someone say Ms. K.

Great meeting!!! I had a great time and thanks everyone for the frags. Now just to sit and wait patiently till I get to do it again.
Flipturn88 02-14-2007, 9:45 AM Yep that's what I meant. I was bagging most of the night and didn't catch her name. Thought I heard someone say Ms. K. Thanks for posting the link, Chris.
Rob, Ms. K offered a pump, which is why I think her name came up. Heather's the girl. :)

Two by two. Hands of blue.
Am I the only Firefly fan that was thinking this during the meeting?
Maveri9720 02-14-2007, 10:14 AM I also agree that everyone should get name tags with screen and real names.
I spent a good bit of time trying to track down some people and I also had to ask a few people a couple times what their screen / real names were.
Would help out alot in my opinion and make it more social and everyone would be more recognizable.
Shawn, you don't have to wait too long to try fragging again...............
kwl1763 02-14-2007, 10:18 AM Agreed on the nametags. My only complaint. Just set a bunch out and tell people to put their first name and username below.
For identfying the BOD you should make brightly colored club shirts that are only for BOD that they wear to the meeting.
Tonester_man 02-14-2007, 10:29 AM Yes thanks sooo much! Had a blast and came home with a whole bunch of stuff. My tank thanks you all!
I spent most of the time looking for a guy in a green polo
I didnt think it was THAT hard... I thought I stood out...
Also, I was thinking about the name tags, I've seent he sell the blue bordered ones as well as the red, so blue could be for the regualr people, and red or the BoD... just a thought
