tsciarini 02-15-2007, 10:19 AM I think with these prices I may have to get one myself!
Anyone else planning on picking one up?
George 02-15-2007, 10:59 AM Yes! I had such problems last summer when my AC would flake out that I'm definitely getting one. They hit right when I've got the $$$, too.
My eventual system is going to be a 60 cube + 2x25g + 15g, I'm getting the 1/4 hp.
I assume that the 1/10 hp model is the EU-AC10, not EU-CL110 which judging from the model number would be between the 20 and 35 gallon models. And the $156 is the EU-CL85?
Cameron 02-15-2007, 11:15 AM I am having a hard time finding people who use these and have posted impressions about them. Anyone here already have one?
flyingarmy 02-15-2007, 11:38 AM I am definitely in for a EU-AC10. I am tired of the fluctuations of my reef temperature, so are my inhabitants!
Chemically_Balanced 02-15-2007, 12:09 PM I am having a hard time finding people who use these and have posted impressions about them. Anyone here already have one?
Let me know if you find anything, I've never had to use a chiller before so I would like to find some information about them.
I also want to pickup the EU-CL 150 (for tanks up to 35 gallons). Hopefully that will be enought to harness the heat. If anyone else has suggestion about this unit working for a 30 gallon with a 250 metal Halide on top drop me a line.
tsciarini 02-15-2007, 4:50 PM I am having a hard time finding people who use these and have posted impressions about them. Anyone here already have one?
They have just been released by Hamilton... new product.
burdundi 02-16-2007, 1:37 PM These prices are great. I plan on ordering a 1/4 since I'm debating on upgrading my lighting from 2x150w halides to mayb 2x400s. I currently have a 1/10, I think its CurrentUSA, not sure though, so I will have to sell that soon.
Do you think a 1/4 will be enought for a 120 gallon with 2 400w halides?
-Andy
I guess Im going to have to break down and join the club to take advantage of this offer.
Any idea on what size for a 90gal with 2 250watt mh, and... The killer, a 75 gal sump located in my garage. The garage is not heated/cooled.
Is a 1/4th hp enough?
burdundi 02-16-2007, 11:32 PM Izib, Sorry to be off topic, but I have often thought about putting a sump in the garage and had a couple of questions. Do you still park a car in the garage and do you every get any stray bugs in the sump?
-Andy
burdundi, I was concerned about the sump in the garage at first. Its only been in the garage since October but so far no issues. I’ve got 2 250 watt heaters that seem to do the trick on heating. My garage has stayed a pretty consistent 45-55 all winter. Of course summer brings a whole new issue. As for bugs, it hasn’t been an issue yet and the sump is not covered, I’m concerned that this will become an issue in the summer. The cars, when there isn’t crap all over the garage both cars go in it. Lots of people have told me this is an issue but I can’t tell its done anything. Everything still looks healthy and both cars are fairly new so emissions are good. With that said we open the door, start the car and back out. I wouldn’t leave it running in the garage with the door open but that’s not a good idea with or without the tank.
The entire tank is still a work in progress, I would like to build some sort of closet around the sump to protect it. I had planned on putting the chiller on top the closet. I will say one thing, I will never have a sump under the tank or in the house again unless its in a fish room. I hate the smell (skimmer, etc) of a sw tank but now all of the smell is in the garage, not to mention water changes are awesome!
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Has anyone ever put a chiller outside (garage)?
Zach
Just a question about these chillers. It says that it "Controls chiller as well as heater(if added)". Is that a heater you just plug into it? Or is it a special heater that is sold by said company also?
Billy
Cameron 02-17-2007, 12:59 PM Anyone know how many amps these guys pull?
Showtime305 02-17-2007, 4:30 PM Nice deal. I really want to take advantage of this but I've dump alot of money on my new setup already. Hmmm, I'll probably try to squeeze this in somehow.
Aquaticco 02-17-2007, 5:27 PM Everyone, make sure when your determining your gallons please include all your sumps etc...
The heater control is a plug in type which you can plug any heater into
Doug
Does anyone know if you can plug more than one heater into it? Also, how much clearance is required on all sides on the chiller?
Aquaticco 02-17-2007, 6:57 PM Does anyone know if you can plug more than one heater into it? Also, how much clearance is required on all sides on the chiller?
What unit are you referring to?
JustOneMoreTank 02-17-2007, 9:57 PM I am curious on how many amps and watts the chillers draw. I am looking at the larger two models. The 1/2 and the 1/4 model chillers.
Thanks Aquaticco :)
Tsunami 02-18-2007, 6:31 PM There seems to be a digital thermostate, so do you need a controler?
burdundi 02-18-2007, 7:05 PM I don't think you need a controller Tsunami. The digital Thermostat should take care of that.
-Andy
Aquaticco 02-18-2007, 9:31 PM I will try to gets amps on Monday. Watts may be more difficult but I will try.
Doug
Cameron 02-19-2007, 11:03 AM I found some basic info which may or may not be correct:
The 1/4hp pulls 3.5-4.5 amps
The 1/2hp pulls up to 5 amps
This was pulled from a commercial website that sells the AquaEuro units (which appear to be the same units). They didn't have any details on the other units or wattage.
Sprayin70 02-19-2007, 2:34 PM I spoke to Doug about the chillers. He said that they sense the temp of the incoming water and turn the chiller on and off. He has been selling the AU-AC10 for 2 years with no problems. I am thinking of getting the AU-AC50. I asked him about pumps for it and he said a mag 5 would be a good pump.
Does anyone know where I can get the space requirements for cooling on the 1/4 and 1/2ph units?
Cameron 02-19-2007, 6:43 PM 1/4 - 12.8"Lx14.2"Wx19.5"H
1/2 - 18.5"Lx15"Wx14.5"H
mwitten 02-20-2007, 7:29 AM I spoke to Doug about the chillers. He said that they sense the temp of the incoming water and turn the chiller on and off. Did he by chance give the required flow rate or flow range? A mag 5 gets me close to the answer, but usually they vary by size....
Thanks!
-Mike
Is there any way to get a PDF instruction manual?
WOLFIE 02-20-2007, 10:16 PM Hi Doug
Put me down for an 1/4 chiller. I been looking to get a chiller for the summer so now is a good time.
I'll call you tomorrow and work out the payment
Sprayin70 02-21-2007, 1:01 AM No I am sorry all he said was a Mag 5.
SuAsati 02-21-2007, 8:55 AM Can we get an approximate shipping charge?
Aquaticco 02-21-2007, 1:32 PM It's going to depend on how many people get involved. With a low turnout I will just have them shipped out UPS directly to you. If we can get a group buy I will have it shipped via LTL. A lot cheaper.
I will keep you informed
Doug
JustOneMoreTank 02-21-2007, 6:36 PM Ok So how many people are in? Or is everyone going to wait until the last couple days and pull the trigger and get the great deal on the chiller you know that you need.
I want one for sure. :yay:
burdundi 02-21-2007, 11:33 PM I'm in for a 1/4. I just need to call Doug :) Probably after I get paid on Friday. I need to sell the 1/10 I have too, but I'll order one first. :)
-Andy
Cameron 02-22-2007, 12:14 AM I am still on the fence. It is such a good deal, but I am already swimming from all the money just spent on my setup.
Adding picture for first post...
I will try to gets amps on Monday. Watts may be more difficult but I will try.
Doug
amps = watts / 120volts
I received a copy of the instruction manual from AquaEuroUSA today. Hope this helps.
Also, do we have any idea what we are looking at for shipping? $20?50?
Aquaticco 02-25-2007, 9:12 PM As of today we have two orders for chillers. Based on this response I think we are better served to have your units shipped directly to you.
If you have stated you want a chiller. Please contact me by the 27 so I can get your credit card information.
When you call I will let you know what the freight costs are.
Doug
burdundi 02-25-2007, 10:47 PM Doug,
How much do you estimate shipping to be? That could factor into my decision.
-Andy
Id like to know this too. Im assuming it wouldnt be any more than the $18 if I buy it from the website, right?
Doug, when would be a good time to call tomorrow? I still have a few questions about the chiller, then I guess I need to join the club and order the chiller.
JustOneMoreTank 02-25-2007, 11:28 PM I would like a chiller as well. I will contact you tomorrow.
Thank you. :)

Cameron 02-27-2007, 1:37 PM Odd that everyone wants to wait until the last minute... Kinda like playing chicken on the train tracks. Exciting or something???For me it was just eating another $500 dollars so close behind stocking my tank. It didn't change anything though... still gotta spend the cash.
It was a bit more than I expected with shipping/handling and tax, but I guess it is still a good deal.
burdundi 02-27-2007, 4:20 PM I just called and left a message. I'll try again later. I definitely want a 1/4 hp.

Cameron 03-05-2007, 9:20 PM Me and Bretts got here. Big boxes. Can't wait to love on my new 1/2 horse...
/dJust make sure you wipe it down afterwards.... :yuk:
flyingarmy 03-06-2007, 3:14 PM Mine came in today at lunch also. Have to wait to set it up on the Oceanic Cube later after I move......argh!!!!!
WOLFIE 03-07-2007, 8:33 PM my come yesterday, but I am just now trying to install it.
GOING TO NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
The Instruction said nothing about those 2 holes and DOES not said which 1 in the inlet nor the outlet...
I can not do anything to it now, till I find out which 1 is which
PS chiller look great
JustOneMoreTank 03-07-2007, 10:01 PM Wolfie... I got my 1/2 horse but am not planning on setting it up for a while. I bought it in advance for my someday office tank... Also I havent ever hooked up or run a chiller so I am a super beginner...
So this is just directed at everyone--- Does it matter which is the inlet and which is the outlet? I mean you put water of 83 degrees in and it goes thru the titanium heat exchanger and comes out 78 degrees right? Maybe? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
I may be wrong, this is my first chiller and its not hooked up yet, but im pretty sure the 1/2hp says in and out on the chiller above the input/output fitting.
WOLFIE 03-07-2007, 10:55 PM Now why does the 1/2hp say in and out on the chiller and not on the 1/4?
At this point I am thinking it does not matter which are in and which are out. I am thinking since the chiller need a pump to pump watter through the chiller so it does not matter which way you pumping since it have to go out the other way.
I take no responcibility for my comment, but I agree. I cant see why it would matter either. Is the 1/4th hp also a nice chrome plated shell also? I assumed it was just grey plastic until I opened it!
WOLFIE 03-07-2007, 11:53 PM hmm no respomciblity for your comment... :shout: I think I am going to steal that line and use it soon:
the 1/4hp look like it have plastic plated, but it look NICE. I could be wrong till I can test it tomorrow
