View Full Version : Marine Fish Annual SALE! MAY 2nd and 3rd!
pnguye3 04-27-2009, 5:42 PM Our "Carnival of Savings" annual sale is coming up this weekend MAY 2ND AND 3RD! For those of you that remember last year, this sale was HUGE. I'm still in the dark when it comes to a lot of deals, but I do know that we are going to have 50% off aquariums over 75 gallons and 50% off of all livestock in the store! There will also be special discounts on everything else within the store. We will have sales representatives from many different manufacturers who will be able to help with any questions about equipment or livestock. This is definitely a sale you can't miss. If any of you remember how last year went, I would try to get here as early as possible to try to get here before the madness starts. This is literally the one of the biggest aquarium related sales in the United States!
If anybody has any questions/comments, please post them here and I will try to answer them as quickly as possible. As soon as I learn about the many more deals that will be offered, I will post here as well!
See you all soon! This sale will be AWESOME!
Woo-Hoo! This is always a great event!

Linda Lee 04-27-2009, 8:57 PM Your niece isn't named Anna is she? I have a flippin' wedding this weekend as well...in NC!!
We're going to one in Santa Rosa, Florida, and it's Friday a.m. we're leaving (night Friday night -- duh)
Groom's family is hosting a crawfish boil on the beach Friday night and bride's family has provided us a room in the beautiful B&B where the wedding is being held. Then Loren's going deep sea fishing Sunday while I check out the corals at the LFS's.
I guess it could be worse.... but I still hate missing this sale!!!
Patrick? Can you have the sale pushed back just one weekend?
haninja 04-27-2009, 9:42 PM What is the guarantee (if any) this year on live stock?
Last year we had multiple fish loses and were told that there is no guarantee or refund on sale items.
Harleyguy 04-27-2009, 10:05 PM I hate to admit that I have never been to Marine Fish but I will absolutely come to this event... But I do have one small question...
What's your address?
Thanks,
Shane

Acidmyst24 04-27-2009, 10:33 PM Killer deals last year!!!
Any freshwater deals? I.E. plants? substrate?
Appaloosa1224 04-28-2009, 1:34 AM Weekend before finals again this year :(
Harleyguy 04-28-2009, 3:58 AM You have much equipment??? I really need a nice Ca reactor...
Killer deals last year!!!
Any freshwater deals? I.E. plants? substrate?
x2. We need lotsa crypts for a 120.
I was there last year and it was a madhouse! May have to swing by again. :)
pnguye3 04-28-2009, 12:17 PM Haninja: I don't believe that we will be able to offer a guarantee on the livestock in the sale. All fish have been properly acclimated. We have finished receiving our last livestock orders, and they will have time to adjust before they will introduced to our customer's aquariums. We planned everything a little bit better this year so that we would not overload our systems and still have the time to acclimate properly.
Acidmyst24: Yes all livestock both freshwater and saltwater will be at 50% off!
Harleyguy: You should definitely come by! We have been around for almost a decade, and we have one of the larger selections of livestock and drygoods in GA . We have some H&S calcium reactors in. I'm not sure how big of an aquarium you have, but they might be able to work? We also carry Coralife calcium reactors as well.
Hooked Newbie: We tried to get as many live plants as we could carry. Hopefully we have enough Cryptocornes to satisfy your need.
Additionally, I have found out that all Coralife fixtures are going to be on sale at 50% off. This will include the metal halide systems. If you guys are interested in an upgrade, this is the time for a nice new fixture. The stands/canopies will be marked at 20% off!. We will also be providing a service to keep the younger ones occupied so that parents may be able to shop and speak to all of the sales representatives. Lastly, free food and drink will be provided! I'll keep up with this thread as much as possible, so keep posting questions/comments.
pnguye3 04-28-2009, 12:22 PM Thanks for the great comments Raj, Linda, Loren, Hanin, and Acidmyst (sorry I don't know your name). It's great to have you guys say some nice things about the sale last year! Too bad about the weddings... This is going to be our annual sale, and it should be held around the same time every year!
Thanks again!
Steve 04-28-2009, 12:28 PM It was a zoo last year. Very fun and you should get some good deals folks!
Just a clue, last year people were waiting around not realizing you had to get a ticket to be helped, so keep an eye out for that. The customers will out number the employees on this one. So be patient. Enjoy. Hope it's as successful as last year for you guys!
jgunnell 04-28-2009, 12:51 PM Patrick-Are items like frozen foods and nano size tanks going to be marked down at all?
PS: Someone buy my Black Sailfin Blenny I traded back in a few weeks ago. I got him from Patrick I think about a year and a half ago there and he was a great fish, but became too territorial against my Jawfish in my 35g as time went on. He was in a tank with a black background last week when I was in, so it was hard to see him. Did a great job with algae in my tank. I felt real guilty when I saw him last week there.
I bought my tank at this sale last year, What a great event.. if you miss it without an excuse.. your crazy :)
glxtrix 04-28-2009, 3:49 PM It will be huge...I just saw a commercial on tv for the event :)

LOVING this :)
At last years sale, I snagged a pair of Green Mandarins that are happy and healthy in my 70G today. Plus a GREAT deal on the Live Sand I used in the 210 when I set it up and a lot of other good deals (food, salt, etc) I can't remember now. Can't wait to see what great deals we get this year! See you there!
pnguye3 04-28-2009, 11:33 PM So, Just got on to add a few more updates:
Everything in the store will be at the very least 30% off! If you can buy it, it will be discounted!
All foods are going to be buy 2 get 1 FREE. All brands of frozen and dry foods that we carry.
Lastly, Brightwell Aquatics is adding an additional perk. If you buy 2 corals, you will receive a free 4oz bottle of one of their coral foods to feed your coral.
ZDaytonaRoadster 04-29-2009, 12:19 AM I'll be thar for sure
Oil_Fan 04-29-2009, 12:24 AM What is the guarantee (if any) this year on live stock?
Last year we had multiple fish loses and were told that there is no guarantee or refund on sale items.
I bought 2 fish last year from them. A yellow tang and a flame angel. The flame angel did great is still an awesome fish in my tank. The tang, not so great. He died about 5 days later.
It was a zoo last year. Very fun and you should get some good deals folks!
Just a clue, last year people were waiting around not realizing you had to get a ticket to be helped, so keep an eye out for that. The customers will out number the employees on this one. So be patient. Enjoy. Hope it's as successful as last year for you guys!
It was insane last year. And yes, it was like 30 minutes before I realized I needed a ticket. Be sure to post that at the door so people know that piece of info.
This is a great sale and should be checked out. And a great time to stock up on salt which I'll be doing again.
jhutto 04-29-2009, 5:19 PM Patrick,
How about Calcium reactors? Been thinking about one...anything to push me over the edge?
Joe
Harleyguy 04-30-2009, 12:49 PM What are your hours going to be for the sale?
Acura_Rob 04-30-2009, 1:17 PM I got a pink spotted goby from them and its doing great. It's one of my favorites in my tank.
pnguye3 04-30-2009, 1:44 PM Jhutto: I'm not exactly sure what the calcium reactors will be discounted at... at least 30% off. The coralife reactor might be discounted more... but don't quote me on that.
Harleyguy: on Saturday we will be open at 10 until the last customer leaves that night. If we have too long of a line in the morning, we will open earlier! Last year we probably had 50 people or so standing in line before we opened.
Chris Noto 04-30-2009, 5:37 PM Question: I do freshwater planted tanks, and would like to know if you stock CO2 equipment? Cylinders? Regulators, with solenoids? pH controllers?
Thanks.
JDD_77 04-30-2009, 6:19 PM I'm looking for a retrofit 72" MH (250W) with actinics and moonlights. Do you have this type of setup in stock?
Oil_Fan 04-30-2009, 10:40 PM I'm assuming you're going to have salt on sale again. Last year I picked up an RO/DI unit. Best thing I could have done!! Oh and will the filters for said unit (Coralife 50 gpd - 4 stage counting the DI unit) be on sale?
Also any nano tanks systems on sale?
Why do I have the feeling my credit card is going to take a major hit again??
ALRIGHTY THEN! I am most likely gonna come out there if it is such a big sale. But I love your beautiful display tank too.
RealFish 05-01-2009, 7:44 PM Stopped by today to see what they were going to have in stock. I have a few specialty items that I need, but it's a long trip from Alpharetta on a Saturday with baseball and chores to get done. Looks like the stocked up on tanks and livestock. The tanks were very full of fish. Must have seen 10-15 flame angels. Also saw a Sea Hare. That thing must have been a foot long and very active. I'd never seen one before, but never imagined they were that big.
The coral tanks were also stuffed. Wish my tank was set up, I'd spend a fortune tomorrow.
ZDaytonaRoadster 05-01-2009, 11:00 PM i was 20 mins late due to stupid traffic :( since they closed at 5
i'll try to come tomorrow

coolsurf 05-02-2009, 3:50 PM Once you get through the traffic you'll have to do battle for parking!! JK. There's plenty of parking. I went around 11 AM and the place was a zoo but well planned out. Have fun...it's worth the trip.
tokejr 05-02-2009, 4:03 PM We got there a little after 10:00. Busy, but very well organized.
We got food, chemicals, test kits, corals, 2 cardinal fish and a flame angel.
Got a great Pagoda for the 72 and a purple sea whip (gorgonian) for the seahorse tank.
coolsurf 05-02-2009, 4:07 PM Some really good deals. I stocked up on food and supplies...couldn't beat it. Got a real nice Alveopora and a Blasto. I ran into Barbara as well. Almost tempted to go back tomorrow.

Scrilla 05-02-2009, 4:48 PM I'll Swing By Tomorrow... I'm Looking For A Cube Or Pod... Anyone See Any Specials On Those?
coolsurf 05-02-2009, 4:56 PM I did not look specifically but everything in the store is at least 30% off or more.
Oil_Fan 05-02-2009, 6:31 PM I did see a couple of 24 gallon pods there. Didn't look at the price and it didn't have a major sign on it.
I'm also thinking of going back tomorrow. Stocked up on food, bought a bunch more snails, couple emerald crabs and a bucket of salt.
ZDaytonaRoadster 05-02-2009, 6:58 PM got torch coral, some pink zoa, red/blue zoas, and a serpent star
Barbara 05-02-2009, 8:16 PM First, I said I wasn't going (too tempting to spend money). Then, when I got there, I said I wasn't going to buy anything. Then I left with 2 new fish and 18 new snails, a maxi-jet mod holder and a couple of cool door prizes. Darn it! They got me again.:D
Great seeing coolsurf, tokejr, cookie and her hubby, pullins125 and his girlfriend and a few others. And it's always a pleasure to see Patrick. The fella that helped me out today getting my fish was really nice too.

Good to see you too, Barbara.

Thanh386 05-02-2009, 9:56 PM I gt 2 fishies too!
Rasbora 05-03-2009, 5:14 AM Got some fish food, and cotton candy for myself. Went around 3pm was fairly packed there, parking was fine. Still mulling over the 55g with filter.
We picked up some DTs and an 8G nano that we've setup as FW. Got a couple of sweet Peacock Gudgeons and a school of pygmy hatchets. :)
oldschool52 05-03-2009, 9:44 AM My wife already posted by I have to add my 2 pennies............................
Went to the sale yesterday. Very crowded but well organized. I always thought that they are one of the nicest stores with a great assortment of everything but also over priced. With this sale you get a good deal on everything. Employees are always nice and pretty knowledgeable. Spent too much bought food, test kit replacements, chemicals, corals and fish. Shopped till credit card melted. LOL
If you miss the sale you'll be sorry.
AndyMan 05-03-2009, 9:57 AM I'm thinking a new pH probe might be in my future
tokejr 05-03-2009, 10:29 AM Hey guys, if you're online, do you have special hours on Sunday or regular 12-5?
Yeah, we're heading that way again. Gotta have a fox coral.
Harleyguy 05-03-2009, 12:12 PM I picked up the Marineland 93g cube yesterday, and I'm getting an H&S reactor for it and H&S denitrate reactor for the big tank... The kids got their faces painted, and had plenty of cotton candy... Nice store and great people.
lawsonr81 05-03-2009, 12:16 PM Hey guys, if you're online, do you have special hours on Sunday or regular 12-5?
Yeah, we're heading that way again. Gotta have a fox coral.
Not sure what the hours are today, I'm assuming normal hours, but I forgot to ask yesterday when i was there. On a side note, I bought 3 Bartlett Anthias yesterday to start stocking my Elos 120xl and I woke up this morning to find one of the dead :boo: (not sure what killed him, he was eating well yesterday) Unfortunately, there is no live guarentee with the fish for the sale, so I guess I'm out of luck. I may try to snag another one today at the store.
Scrilla 05-03-2009, 1:06 PM I'll Swing By Tomorrow... I'm Looking For A Cube Or Pod... Anyone See Any Specials On Those?
Darn, Some Things Have Popped Up Today And I Wont Be Able To Swing By... And I Was Really Looking Forward To Coming By And Making My Purchases... :mad2:
Barbara 05-03-2009, 1:23 PM My two wrasses were eating yesterday as soon as I put them in the tank. Then they went and hid the rest of the evening. This morning I was worried about them but when the tank lights came on they were out and about, ready to eat again. I'm so excited! I got some super fantastic deals. Altogether I feel like I made out like a bandit. Half off on 2 wrasses and 18 snails, and I won 2 door prizes (someone gave me their ticket when they left......). Way cool.

The cardinals and flame angel I bought yesterday are doing fine (in different tanks) and eating today as well!
I did go back - got my fox coral. And zoanthid, mushrooms, a yellow clown goby and a kole tang.
Good thing this sale was only 2 days - we would have broke the bank!
Barbara 05-03-2009, 7:52 PM I didn't go back today ("Thank God" says my wallet!). My 2 wrasses are actually out swimming around with thier tankmates now. (I didn't QT them. I know.....I know......). They have eaten several times and are almost acclimated to their new tankmates already. I'm so psyched! And the snails I picked up are called Banded Trochus snails. I was told their "street name", which was "Black Footed Snail" by Cappuchino Bay. The only other time I've ever seen these guys was when I bought some at Cap Bay years ago. They are the only snails I know that can actually flip themselves back over if they fall off upside down. They seem to have an extra long foot and can turn back over on thier own. Only kind of snail I'd have in the aquarium besides nassarius and stomatellas.
cr500_af 05-03-2009, 8:40 PM I went on the spur of the moment with my daughter today... very busy in there.
Got 2 PJ cardinals (to complete my trio) who are doing well in QT right now and a cleaner shrimp. Also picked up a nice trach brain, and an acro (birdsnest).
Some free phytoplankton and a free reference book on corals was nice too.
I ALMOST took advantage of one fantastic deal (though I would use it for my FW crew)... buy an Emporer powerfilter ($79.99) and get a free 55g tank! Now that's a killer deal!
Steve 05-04-2009, 10:26 AM It was good to see all the Premier guys, Patrick, Kyle, and I can't forgot Kevin from Brightwell. Good to see you all.
