I finally gave in to the idea of using an ozone generator on my tank but needed to run carbon on the effluent water from my asm, so this is what i came up with....
all you need are 2 4" connectors, a 3 inch connector, a drainage grate, 4 inch pipe and a 4" to 11/2" reducer. All these supplies can be picked up at home depot or lowes... i made this to use on my asm 5 which has 1 1/2" pipes,,you could use smaller connectors and pipe if your skimmer is smaller...this is just the general assembly idea....

1.take the 4 inch pipe and drill some holes in it....
2. fit the reducer in to the 4inch connector
3. on the other end place the 3 inch connector
4. place the grate into the other 4 inch connector
5. get some bridal vail and glue onto grate
6. place carbon (loose or bag) on grate
7. assemble as in picture
8. turn on ozone...

started using the setup today ...will let you know how it works out.ready for some sparkling water.....the last pic is another diy project of mine...an auto top off with a backup float...cost $40 to make with the use of some scrap pipe...will post pics as soon as i get a chance....glad to report that my overflow is working out great...skimmer definatly started kicking in once i put this in...
