View Full Version : Guaging interest: Seachem Reef Salt Group Buy...

I'd like a bit of feedback...

I have an opportunity to do an attractive group buy on Seachem Reef Salt, 160g buckets. If I can sell 36 units (price to be announced...) - I will receive a free RO Unit from Seachem, which I would raffle among those who participate in the buy.

I spoke with a club member this morning, who would be interested in 6 buckets. That leaves 30 buckets to sell (of course I can sell 2 pallets or more :) ... but need 36 to get the free unit).

So... if you are interested, please post in this thread. It's not a commitment on your part - just seeing if there is enough interest to pursue it.

I'll post the price likely tomorrow or Tuesday - just got to check on a couple of things... the buy date would likely be about 2 weeks out.

Let me know, please :)

I use the salt... and always interested if the price is right, but without knowing the price, cant really commit. I dont need an RO/DI though.

No commitment needed until the proposed buy is in progress... I'm gauging interest just now. I should have a firm price in the next day or two.

If you win the RO you can always sell it, trade it... or give it away. It's a promotion by Seachem - so if we can pull together a group buy, we'll pass the bonus on to the customer.

I still need an RO unit, so I'd most likely be in for a bucket just as a raffle ticket of sorts. At least in this scenario you do get something (the salt) even if you don't win.

If the price is competitive, we'd be in for one.

It will be competitive - I can get it at a really great price right now. Seachem recently introduced MAP pricing though *g*... but didn't provide a list of what the MAP actually is... so before I get myself into trouble, I need to check with them on that... but I spoke with my Seachem rep in person yesterday at a trade show, and we talked about it - so he knows what I am wanting to do, I just want to make sure it's good with them.

My only question is the major difference between the seachem and the IO we have been using...is it going to throw my tank into a tizzy?

If our WC's are only 20-30%, I would think we'd be fine?

I am interested, depending on price

I've never had a problem, nor heard of any problems with people changing salt mix - as long as they are using a decent quality salt and stick with a decent quality salt. The main differences in the brands are the proprietary compounds they use to make each brand unique, and that's trace elements and such.

And as Linda pointed out - as a rule we only change a portion of the water at a time - so any change in salt brand would be "weaned" in anyway.

I carry several varieties of salt - I did carry Seachem when it first came out but it didn't move for me so I ended up using my stock in the shop (with no ill effects from switching). I've seen a few folks mention that they use it here, and with the promotion going through Seachem right now - I thought I'd bring it back in and see if folks were interested in a group buy.

I'll be putting it out to my newsletter subscribers this week, and I've posted it elsewhere too and I'm getting some good feedback - so I'm tentatively going to say it will be a go. Once I get the pricing info set in stone, I'll post it and we'll get the ball rolling on it.

I'm very interested, pending price. I only have enough salt left for one more change and was planning to get more at the April meeting.

BTW...I love being able to hit "Post Quick Reply"!

OK so 6 folks tentatively interested here - assuming one bucket apiece.... a client came in yesterday and said he's likely take 6, and others have contacted me about around 7 more... so that's 19 so far.

I should hear back today about pricing.

OK... details are all worked out - I just sent a PM to The Powers that Be here at ARC to get their stamp of approval and once that's done I'll start a new thread with the details.

I am down to my last bucket so I would be in for probably 4 or more

More buckets = more chances on the RO unit raffle :) Stay tuned...

(And if I don't sell 36 buckets - the price will still be good, just no RO to raffle).
