View Full Version : Purple "helmet" urchins
Barbara 03-20-2009, 8:37 AM Hey Chris. A little birdie (Well, okay, it was Loren, as in Linda and Loren) told me that you had these really neat urchins called helmet urchins? Do you still have any? How much are they?
I don't ususally come all the way to flowery branch from Woodstock, but after what you did for Brian, and after Loren's post showing all the snakes, I feel like making the drive out there.
Whatcha got?

Derek_S 03-20-2009, 9:11 AM He brought me one to the last meeting and it was under 10 bucks.
I out my urchin in the overflow since i dont like them knocking stuff over. He is really cool.
Barbara 03-20-2009, 9:14 AM Sweet! I can't wait to hear from him. I hope he has more. I asked first, so stay away, you vultures!
JessPete 03-20-2009, 10:26 AM Shoulda pmed! lol
Linda Lee 03-20-2009, 10:43 AM Odd that right after you asked about these, ours showed up, front and center. We had not seen him since we put him in the tank after the meeting. Guess his ears were burning and he felt the need to make an appearance.
Barbara 03-20-2009, 10:47 AM Linda, I'm so glad! I can't wait to get a few. Poor Chris is probably still sleeping after his late night trek over to Brian Holowell's last night!
Linda Lee 03-20-2009, 10:52 AM And for the record, our helmut never knocks anything over or picks anything up. We've never seen him on the rocks. He stays tightly attached to the glass or the overflow, even when he's cruising around.

Ah, another vulture heard from!

Don't think urchins really have ears do they?
andregarcia_73 03-20-2009, 1:02 PM I bought one of these and I'm really enjoying it! He is always on my glass cruising and I like the purple color and shape I like.
Fish Scales2 03-21-2009, 1:09 AM Ok I was sleeping all day and totally missed this thread.
Happy B-day Barbara!!!
As to the urchins, I am awaiting a shipment from Hawaii that should be in this coming week. The guys are pretty cool, never knock any coral over or immitate decorator crabs.
I will let everyone know when they come in.

Seedless Reefer 03-21-2009, 10:38 PM yup with a big B E V O right underneath.
Hook em baby.
Linda Lee 03-21-2009, 10:41 PM Problem is, it's a purple urchin. This seems more like a LSU kinda guy ... Geaux Tigers, even....
Or maybe a Minnesota Viking, or ... uhhhh....
okay, I'll stop now.
