Thought I'd post some pics of our visit to fishscales. Chris and his wife were excellent hosts, the kids will not likely soon forget the trip. If you have not been, I highly recommend the trip.

Much of Chris's animals are locally raised, from his clownfish (baboonscience's fish) to his reptiles. For the snakes and lizards, he handles them as much as possible so they are all friendly to pickup and he'll have you holding them in no time.

My son with the largest snake he's ever seen in real life. The guy with the goat beard is Chris :-)

Chris will have to comment on this snake...a python?

My son and his buddy with a big tortuous.

And a smaller one...

Unfortunately, mom is not a fan of snakes so this guy could not come home with us

When I talked to him about my closed loop cube, he mentioned your tank...do you have pics of that? Sounds very well done.

Nothing is better than the smiles I get to see on the faces of the children that come into the store.

So the first snake is a 7 year old female red tail boa that is gravid and will bear live within the next 3-6 months, they normally have 30-80 babies.

The second animal is my Amesthine or scrub python from Australia. He is the largest of the tree pythons some 26 feet. Most of these guys cannot be handled due to there inherent aggressiveness, this guy has calmed down nicely.

Leo is my tortiose, his 7th birthday is next month.

The last snake is our female ball python that is also gravid.

Come By At Feeding Time!!! It Is A Blast!!!

Ok, I might get in trouble for that one.

You do not have to bug me! It is always my pleasure to let patrons handle all the snakes, except my rattler.

except my rattler.
What do you think about places like Diamond Reptile that sells Rattlers and Cobras and stuff like that?

How does that work for Joe Shmoe...Can anyone order one?
Not that I want a cobra or anything, just always wondered how you would mail a mono cobra.. and what criteria you had to meet to be eligible to buy something like that..

You can own and possess venomous snakes that are indigenous to Georgia only. With proper permitting and insurance coverage you can possess cobras and other venomous snakes.

Lord, I cant imagine wanting a pet cobra or pit viper. I mean common. You seriously want an animal that just sits in its cage and thinks about how it'd like to kill you?

I do not own cobras but I do have a pit viper. I have a canebrake rattlesnake that is the results of a 20 year captive breeding project. He does not sit in his tank scheming of a way to kill me, he loves me and everyone else. I handle him often. Guys do not get me wrong, I do not take risks with my snakes and am always very cautous and responsible with all my animals. I do not buy or sell venomous animals or encourage others to get involved with venomous snakes. I do though however encourage people to follow what there heart desires, for me it is simple.

I have a gift.

How nice it is to pull up to a local lake on several occasions and have a crocodile swim right up to you, I pick it up and take him where he belongs.

I was actually planning to get a few pics of the system up this weekend. I will be sure to include the pics of the plumbing.

Chris- I'm ashamed! Every great exotic pet store needs atleast a 20ft snake! duh .

Nattalie got freaked out cause the rattle snake started shaking it's tail at us. I backed up out of instinct (I saw a small one in the wild when visiting my grandparents) and it stopped rattleing its tail when nattalie was still standing there. I think he might of been scared of my bright orange jeans...

Wow Chris, that is impressive. I agree that everyone has their thing, but reptiles certainly arent mine. I wouldnt mind a pet tiger or some other bad animal that could maul my friends, but no thanks on the snakes!

How bout a gator? J/K LOL

I dunno.

Obviously we look for different qualities in pets. I like the loyalty and friendship of a dog. If a gator was like that...maybe. Sure not as welcoming at the foot of my bed, though.

LOL. Dogs a bit different, they are more like the kids except they dont talk back. I would not trade my dogs for anything in the world.
