i have a 50 gallon tank that in a few months i am wanting to add some coral to my tank mostly soft how much light would yall suggest?
i am out in left field on this topic i read anything from 2-3 watts per gallon or more

i have a pc light on my 55 and i have zoa's and a few other softies and they are good to go. it has 4 65watt bulbs so thats 260watts in all

Post dimensions. Also try and tell us your budget? T5s are sweet, but if you are looking for a good used deal PCs might be a good start.

What kind of croals are you wanting to keep, that will also depend on if you can use T5s or PC's, or even halides.

I dont really like PCs.
I had some growth under PCs but certin things, like zoas, would slowly die off.

they are doing fine for me just need to make sure you keep good bulbs in them
