Hello everyone! I just found out about the forums and it is great to find a local community for the hobby. I have had a planted freshwater aquarium for a while, but I recently acquired a saltwater setup.

Here is the planted tank:

I plan on setting the tank up for reef, but I have a lot to learn--it will be a long time until I reach the point to put any reef in it. The site looks great and I plan on doing a lot of searches for a while.

The secret to growing corals like the ones I have, is to clean them really well in a bleach solution--they absolutely love it!! I am on the north side of atlanta off of Howell Mill.

Thanks for the compliments. The planted tank is 85 gallons and the saltwater tank is 75 gallons. There is also a neglected 10 gallon on our mini-fridge, I try to keep that one hidden though.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!! I am sure that I will have a lot of questions for everyone. Does anyone have any links to FAQ's about getting started in saltwater, or even some sites with good articles?

Welcome to the ARC!

I would recommend a book by Robert Fenner called "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist". Very good foundation book for SW tanks.

Also, there is plenty of info to read between this site, http://www.thereeftank.com, http://www.reefcentral.com and http://www.wetwebmedia.com

Start with this thread: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=912378&perpage=&pagenumber=1

It's one of the best layman's terms layout and explanation of SW tanks that I have read. Granted there is alot of praise and off topic posts in there, but if you can filter through those, the info there is priceless. I think it is up to 38 or so pages long. You should have plenty to read there.

Good Luck.

Very nice tanks! I can tell you'll do well with reef tanks since your planted tank is so awesome. I bet it takes a lot of nurturing and care.

Welcome to our world!
