I have a "pair" of Peppermint shrimp in my 90 and the female has a huge mess of eggs under her!:eek: She fans them often and they are getting bigger and bigger! Anyone know what the ultimate outcome of this could be? I have about 180lb of rock w/many caves. The 2 of them hang in a small crevice at the bottom of the tank almost on the sand. Let me know. Thanks!

The babies will be sucked up by the skimmer or filter and any that do make it wont have the food necessary to survive.

Also, a small percentage will themselves become uh snacks.

OMG! I was just now sitting on my floor watching my tank... The 2 shrimp were in one corner. The female was acting wierd and all of the sudden, she molted right in front of me! It was incredible! I, personally, have never seen a molting.. The male pinned her down as soon as she pulled out of her shell and acausted her! It was incredible! :0

FYI Peppermint shrimp (as well as cleaner and fire) do not have sexes. There is no such thing as a male and a female. They are simultaneous hermaphrodites. They produce both eggs and sperm at the same time. Once they settle in and mature, both of your shrimp will have eggs under their tails 90% of the time.

Also, raising the babies is very easy - almost bangaii cardinal easy. But you will have to do it in a dedicated tank.

Well thanks. I did not do any research on male/female but assumed.. Which we all know what that does!? :(
