View Full Version : Stocking suggestions for 30 gallon?
weaglereefer 01-11-2009, 7:48 PM Picked up a 30 gallon yesterday to go with my 24" PC light. I'm thinking I want a pair of black/white clowns, but don't know what else that light will support, coral wise, and some other small inhabitants. Any ideas.
And FWIW, I do not want: firefish, clown goby, neon goby, or tail spot blenny, since I have all those in my 75.

pair of mandarin's, an achilles tang, pair of crosshatch triggers, harlequin tusk. Those would all do good.
ha j/k
weaglereefer 01-13-2009, 3:08 PM Alright, think I'm going to go with some "fancy" fish in this tank. I want some Black ORA Misbar Clowns, a Helfrichi Firefish, and I'm thinking a goby/pistol shrimp pair. What's a cool looking goby?
flyingarmy 01-13-2009, 3:30 PM I'd go with a Yashi Goby and Tiger Pistol. Great looking pair!
Im doing a 29 right now that ill be all Caribbean corals with mostly Caribbean fish. There are some really awesome fish and even cooler inverts!
I'd second the Yashi Goby. I'm still amazed by the colors on mine. :) I also have a pistol shrimp, but I never see it. :(
1RareFish 01-13-2009, 3:42 PM yea they do good in smaller tanks i had a yasha and pistol pair in my 34. i seen them for two days, and never againnnnnnnnn. at night, when all is quiet i swear i hear snapping. then i realize i was only dreaming (wiping tears)
mopar9012 01-13-2009, 5:15 PM I have one clown, a rusty angel and one cromis in my 29.
All doing well, thats all the fish that will be in that tank.
For lighting I have 150W MH and a T-5 retro.
Id look into getting a different light for that tank, I never liked PC over my tank.
weaglereefer 01-13-2009, 5:23 PM I got the light for a good price. I don't plan to have corals in this tank other than maybe some zoas or mushrooms, as my 75 display tank is literally 15feet away, I just wanted something simple in the bar with some fancy fish. I will probably even do a HOB filter on this one.
Derek_S 01-13-2009, 5:26 PM Just put a REALLY nice BT anemone and those clowns in there. Nems arent recommended for tanks that small, but they will probably be fine as long as you keep an eye on the water quality. I have seen many a biocube with nems under the stock PC lights.
Simple and clean, and minimal rocks. Maybe a few zoas here and there.
And black/mixed sand. Ooohhh, now I want one.
