Its not realy a problem more of just a suggesion. But on most other sites your able to put an actuall picture for your signature, most people have a pic of there tank or just a cool desighn. And on ARC your limited to words or a link to a pic wich is cool but i allways like seeing peoples creative desighns and photoshop skills on there sigy's. So i was just wondering if any one else would like to be able to post pics for signatures and if so could we maybee change it to allow pics? If your concern is that people will take up to much space with a signature you could simply limit the size to whatever you wanted. It would realy just add another level of customiation to the site, and create more topics for discusion. Just throwin that out there. Thanks!

IMO, sigs can begin to take away from some of the content, and makes things feel cluttered. Another forum I was apart of a long time ago (blasphemy I know) allowed for it, and too many people had flashy or flashing sigs that just irked me. Even the 50 lines of text ones I see on here kind of bother me.

I agree to the customization and creativity part, but as an end user, eh; not so. lol I just noticed your interest: loitering

I'm for. On another forum I have a 100x50 pic of my tank with a date stamp on it, and update it weekly. It's cool because I can look back and see how much it changes as time goes on.

This came up almost exactly a year ago. Here's the thread (http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11385) about having animated avatars:

To quote myself:
There are a few design criteria that I tried to stick with when I laid out this site. One of them was to focus on the content over the graphics, even if it means limiting what each person has displayed when he/she posts. It's really annoying (to me, anyway) to go to a forum, and have to sift through a bunch of nonsense to find the actual posts. This is why pictures aren't allowed in the signatures. While it'd be cool to see small pictures of people's tanks or something, only 1% of the people will do that, and we'll end up having to sift through pictures. Try reading a car forum for some good examples.

More importantly, as Cameron said, it's just really hard to read the post if you have a bunch of things jumping around to the left. I fully understand that people want to customize and be themselves, but it was setup the way it is for to allow for the best readability. While I really appreciate people's suggestions, this is one I'm going to fight hard on- I honestly believe that after seeing someone's signature picture once, no one really needs to see it 10,000 more times. Your picture isn't personally appealing to me (be it a band, statement, or whatever), and I'm sure it wouldn't stop there. While I'd like nothing better than to have everyone have a small picture of their tank in their sig (including myself), it's just impossible to manage that.

+1

I personally hate all that crap (pictures, banners) at the bottom of peoples posts on other forums. I don't know if it's me or my ADD, but it makes me insane.
