I treat the store's 180 gal reef as my own personal tank. I decided to break out my PAR meter and take some readings. See attached photos. :)

Looks pretty good. I am surprised the par isnt higher. THat thing is packed full of lights, but I guess they are pretty high K.

4 400 Watt Magnetic ballasts, LumenMax Elite Reflectors and Helios 20K Bulbs

Looks pretty good. I am surprised the par isnt higher. THat thing is packed full of lights, but I guess they are pretty high K.

With 20K you can't expect to much, I should also state these numbers are with the pumps running and surface being agitated, if I was to still the surface, the PAR would increase.

oH yeah, and they are pretty high off the water as well, right?

I am suprised they are not higher. that is 1600 watts... guess they need to be moved down.

They are about 7 or 8 inches off the water.
