Since my family has gotten the big tank, my sister has really gotten into saltwater fish keeping. For here birthday my mom and I would like to get her everything she needs to set up a nano. Do you think it would be simpiler for her to get an all in one system, or should we get everyting seperatly? I would like it to be to grow all types of corals so my sister could work up to sps. We are leaning twords doing an all in one system, what is the best type? Solona is out of the question:) . Would an aquapod work?

Do you know the different sizes avalible in an aquapod? Sorry for all the questions, I just want Sarah to have a good experience with her tank. Lets just say she started out with a 5 gallon freshwater tank. All the fish she added died with in a week:sad: . So I want to give her a good chance to be happy with the fish keeping hobby.

ha i think nanos are beginners! my first was a 12g that i put together myself then i got a 12g aquapod and its sooo much better when its all in one. i love mine. haven't made any modifications and corals are doing great. awesome birthday gift!

get a 30g oceanic cube drilled in the middle, if you got the money to spend. then get a small sump with everything except the kitchen sink, i have an insump protein skimmer she could use. as for lighting a 150/250w sunpod or 4 24in t5ho. make it viewable from 4 sides.

I think they have a 12 and a 24 gal.Mine is the 24 gal. with about #40 LR and #20 LS,stock filter,stock lights.Hope this helps.Do you know the different sizes avalible in an aquapod? The aquapod has better lighting than the bio-cube. The aquapod comes with dual actinic (420nm and 460nm) and a dual daylight (6700k and 10k) really seems to to better than the Biocubes (10k and 420nm). Better coral growth and colors.

Go for the biocube or nanocube. aquapod is kind of cheap imo. ive had all 3 biocube is on top of my list. when you look at the outside and how they are made aquapod looks like junk. biocube has better filtration. I had all 3 set up at the same time.I thought the biocube stock lighting had nicer colors.

2 -24 watt pc . I had the smaller cubes all set up. aquapod 12,nanocube 12 and the biocube 14. the only thing i liked about the aquapod is was 16 inches wide compared to 12-13 wide of the others..

We have had our Oceanic 29g Biocube for 4 months, and enjoy it so much we bought a 2nd one for my son on Christmas. All of the Nanos seem similar, but after reading and talking with other nano users we settled on Oceanic. Filter area is simple, easy to mod. Front hood is a little wider for better access. Lighting seems adequate for all soft corals, and maybe some of the easier SPS. We currently have a few zoas, polyps and similar corals doing very good. A couple of local stores have the 29g on sale for under $300.

SWC has the JBJ 29g with 150 hqi lighting for a great deal think he was asking $500-520 with a stand also. very nice setup has skimmer etc, just plug and go.

I thought about one of those when they came out. Most say the skimmer are'nt any good. .Plan on a 300.00 dollar chiller in the summer time as well.Just some thoughts.

Would a Oceanic BioCube 29 need an extra pump for water movement? What do ya'll think about the Hydor koralia water circulation pumps? Is their another brand that you prefer? Would the tank need a chiller and what size if I don't need the extra pump or pumps? What about if I add the extra pump or pumps?

Solana are nice but pricy and the stock stand suck. I thought the glass was a little thin as well on mine.Plan on a chiller as well.

I have no problems with my Solana's heat. I actually HAVE to run the heater to keep it the temp I want it. This goes for the summer time as well.

Did you purchase one of the Current chillers or a different one?

I am not sure if you are talking to me but I am not running a chiller on my Solana.
