On SUNDAY January 21st we will be having a second edition of a seahorse presentation. Another one of our members Len (Lenny) has tons of seahorse information to share with the club.
This will be a more laid back environment meeting to be held at Tony's Grille and Tap (same location as the December '06 get together) located near the intersection of 400 and Hwy 92. (Directions can be found on their website (http://www.tonysgrille.com/).)
The topics will discuss the setup/maintenance and care for seahorses and will cover all basics of running systems specifically for these animals.
Be sure to come out early for some relaxation time with food/drinks.
We'll get started with socializing at around 4:30 and start the presentation around 5ish. Lenny can provide more details.

Thanks, Tony and the club for letting me share what I've learned in the last half a year.
The meeting will be Sunday, the 21st at Tony's. The easiest Directions are:
From the GA-400, Take the Holcomb Bridge Exit that points you towards Roswell (west). If going north, you'll loop back over the 400. If south, you'll be taking a right. Go one traffic light to dogwood rd. There's a "Krystal's" on the corner. Turn left, and then left again into the shopping center. There you are!
I will be covering a more basic approach to setting up and maintaining a successful seahorse tank. I will be going over everything I wish i'd been told before I leaped headfirst off the cliff of seahorse Husbandry.
In, My head, the meeting will go like this:
4:30 Mix and Mingle (we'll be in a bar/restaurant, so .. get your grub on!)
5:00 Presentation by me (Lenny)
I have prepared a nice powerpoint presentation to cover the basic facts, some photos and video footage from both my tank and others, and will be sharing some letters and general thoughts from some of the world renowned seahorses experts (such as Pete Giwojna) that they've been kind enough to share with me when I let them know I'd be giving this presentation
6:15 (or so) Floor opened up to Q&A
I have some local seahorse experts coming to help me answer your questions. Some are advanced Hobbyists, some have worked with seahorses in professional Aquarium and Scientific situations.
When Q&A is over, there will be some door prizes and whatnot handed out (see how I hook you in with the chance of some swag.... :) )
After the meeting, there's no real reason to rush out, and we can stay and enjoy the atmosphere and company.
I would really like input from anyone who is interested in this aspect of the hobby, so please feel free to email me questions or topics you'd like to see covered in advance (or post here) and I will do my best to make sure everyone walks away from the night a little better informed than they were when they walked into the meeting and wanting to set up their own seahorse tanks!
Anyone that comes dressed in a full-on seahorse costume will get a special surpise gift..... (okay, thats not true, but we will have a good time making fun of you.....)
Just wanted to say that I've been getting some really great questions, and keep 'em coming!

I just received a letter from Pete Giwojna, one of the leading seahorse experts out there (and one of the sources Porter was referencing last Tuesday), and he expressed some things he'd like me to share at this meeting about issues to think about when getting into the hobby. I'm excited to be able to bring this to y'all! I have also been gathering notes on "I wish i'd known.... xxxx..... when I got into keeping seahorses" from both hobbyists and professionals alike, and though I thought I'd had most of it covered, I've picked up some really good ideas and topics to share with y'all!

Will there be a recording of your talk Lenny? I would be interested in having the chance to digest your information at length as your passion for your adults is as important as rearing the young.......
Out of the >30 plus hatchlings I got from you I have around 25 that are doing great now at 2 and a half months of age. That's over a 60% success rate. They are really getting some size now.

Don't know about a recording, but I will be happy to provide either a copy of my powerpoint presentation, or summary to anyone who is interested.
I hope to see a lot of you tonight, and look forward to talking bout my little buddies with y'all!
