It provides extra filteration and essential bacteria. Corals are actually living. They require some lighting (this verys depending on the coral) thre are alot of varieties and colors. Some of them require special care. stickx911 11-21-2008, 12:09 AM Live rock is basicly dead coral from the ocean. It provides extra filteration and essential bacteria. Corals are actually living. Some of them require special care. you are too nice. lol live rock is just rock that has beneficial bacteria that develops on it. Ideally the rock is porous so it can hold more bacteria as it aids filtration. Coral are living things. I like to compare them to salt water venous fly traps. They live mostly on photosynthesis, but also eat things which help growth...this does not apply to all, nor does it really apply to any, but it gives you an idea... PS at least simple saltwater book should be the first thing on your list. lol, just thought I'd throw that out there. |
