Kevin 12-22-2006, 10:49 AM Thanks Tony. Sounds great
tsciarini 12-22-2006, 11:27 AM I'd like to go as a representative of the ARC. I would be nice if we could get a small group together to head down and check it out. Maybe drive down Saturday and check out some of the LFS in Jacksonville?

Actually to that part of Jax, it may closer to 5 hours if you paln your time or arrival to miss the rush hours. I've driven that many times. It is Interstate all the way.
Sound like an interesting trip, but I have 16-hour comprehensive exam for my professional designation just after that and doubt that I can take the time away from review.

I believe Tom would be coming from SC so he's tacking on some extra time... 5hours for us sounds about right. Its good to get an estimate from someone who's made the drive before... thanks!
goodfortune 12-28-2006, 1:17 PM I just got home from Jacksonville about 2 days ago. If you don't make any stops, you can make it to Jacksonville (I-95 & I-10) in a little over 5 hours at speed limit. The meeting location is another 25 min from Downtown JAX.

Yes, but going the speed limit on some sections of I-75 is hazadorus. I usually stop in Valdosta for a quick pit stop and a coke. If I go with the truckers (usually limit plus 5 or 6), my total time is about 5. I have skipped the pit stop, passed a few trucks, and been there is a little over 4 to the south side at I-10 and I-95.
Best of luck.:shades:
PS I live on the NE side of ATL and go twon at non-rush hour times, prefferabley before 7. Otherwise, I go around I-285 and hit I-675 to I-75.
I go thru town and preferably not at rush hour
goodfortune 12-28-2006, 3:18 PM Are you from J-ville too?

No, but I used to have a home in Sanford, between Daytona and Orlando on I-4. I would go that way to get to I-95 and then I-4. Was a much easier drive than going down I-75 to Wildwood. Have also done a lot of work in the Jax area.
Where are you from?
goodfortune 12-29-2006, 4:38 PM Cool; Jacksonville is a great place...it just took me leaving to that find out ;)!!! Where did you do most of your work in JAX? I grew up on the Westside, about 10 mins from Orange Park Mall.
I miss the beach the most...Jacksonville is growing really fast these days. I don't get to go home much these days, but I'm amazed at all the new construction and development that is happening all over town.
As for LFSs in JAX; are there any that you like to go to when passing through? I remember visiting a pretty nice one out by the beach; I think it was either off of Beach Blvd, or JTB where it dead-ends into A1A in Ponte Vedra.

I'm up for a Road trip... sounds llike it will be fun.

Anybody else please add their name and extend the list.

MattTVI 02-09-2007, 8:19 AM On anthony's forum, the Peace and Plenty Inn (bed and breakfast) is listed as a great place to stay (for those going). It's owned by a reefer, so it's gotta be good, right?
here's the website: www.peaceandplentyinn.com
