View Full Version : Upcoming Forum Changes
LorenK 09-24-2008, 2:39 PM A couple of changes in forum structures:
1) Migrating the Seahorse section into the general Reef Topics. There is not a lot of activity in there.
2) Adding a new section called Breeders Corner that will be championed by our local breeder extraordinaire Bobz. This will cover livestock propagation.
The Special Interest Groups will be formally listed in the drop down Forum Menu.
Moving forward, we will try to find owners for the Special Interest Groups so those sections can see better activity. I hope by listing them in the drop down, they will also be more visible.
I’ve not heard much additional requests on Tank Builds and based on some conversations am going to suggest those go into Member Tanks until there is a stronger demand.
washowi 09-24-2008, 3:30 PM Missing a forum.........for little things that swim in the ocean and have big teeth :)
LorenK 09-24-2008, 3:43 PM Im still working on that.

Sounds like some good changes, thanks. Can the Member Tanks posts be added to the Home Page?
LorenK 09-24-2008, 5:37 PM They don't show up in new posts?

reefscape 09-24-2008, 6:55 PM so is this gonna take as long as the repaving >that went on in atlanta ...
johnr2604 09-24-2008, 7:03 PM I think those are great moves especially adding the special interest groups individually. I think this would give some more traffic in those forums. I would love to see the nano reef area get more traffic because in cas you couldn't tell I Love nano's.
Budsreef 09-24-2008, 7:16 PM They don't show up in new posts?
Yes, they show up in "New Posts" but not on the Home Page.
anyway to make it easier to post pics?its the only forum i have trouble posting pics on.

I think I got it fixed now.
twistoflime 09-24-2008, 8:00 PM When will these changes happen?
LorenK 09-24-2008, 9:08 PM Typically forums don't have the drag/drop feature. I looked on the vbulletin.org site, there isn't a mod pulbished. The one we have was hand coded by Chris (mojo).
From my experience, you either have to do the typical file upload or link to external source.
If you have a link to a site that has a better example, PM me know and I'll look at it.

LorenK 09-24-2008, 9:09 PM When will these changes happen?
This weekend I hope.
TriGa22 09-24-2008, 10:04 PM I still cannot post pictures, Is there an update or something?
Thanks
Steve 09-24-2008, 10:15 PM Loren, I don't know if you knew this, but the forum's photo uploading thing isn't working. Time to get chris onto an update or something?
Derek_S 09-25-2008, 8:02 AM Guys, the absolute best thing to do is get a photobucket account an upload there. It is free, and easy to link, no popup ads, and it probably is much easier on the site server since we dont actually have to host the pics.
Photobucket will even automatically generate thubnails and everything if you want to post your pics that way.

Agree!!!
And I can see pictures posted this way @ work whereas the filter here blocks a lot of others.
Derek -- love the fish, btw. He's doing great. There was a bit of a tussle at first between Madame Butterfly and the small, yellow tang, but the butterfly faced down the tang and now, oddly enough, they're a couple. They often swim together side by side.
Note to Loren -- Can we go ahead and put the Library Forum online? Perhaps with the note *Under Construction*. Unless anyone else sees a problem with it being accessed by members while it's being worked on.
Budsreef 09-25-2008, 12:10 PM I think I got it fixed now.
Thanks, Loren!
LorenK 10-02-2008, 12:10 PM Just an FYI, the Breeders Corner is now open for business. I know there are a few folks lurking out there that are breeding fish so hopefully we'll see some interesting discussion.
