So this is probably a dumb question but I have not yet had to heat up my 210. What do you guys do to maintain temp on larger tanks? My system will have approximatley 350gallons when it is set up. Do I need six 250W heaters? I have been using Stealth heaters in my 70 and use a couple of 250W, one in the sump and one in the tank which maintains the temp fairly well for me.
Thanks,
BZ

I have a 320, and 2 300W in it, keeps the tank at 78F, The tank is in a the basement, so if yours is ina climate controlled place one 300 should do, since the pumps are already putting out some heat.
Thanks... that's very true. The room temp does not vary much since it is heated and airconditioned. I forgot I only need to maintain about a 10 degree variance probably at max. I should be fine with a couple of 250W, maybe two in the sump and one in the tank for redundancy. thanks!
over the last 2 days I was kinda suprised with my new setup, 2 halides on it though, it will have 4. but I screwed up the controller settings and they were off, tank leveled off at 72degrees with the halides on and all the pumps.
heaters are running almost 24x7 to get it back up to 79, Im going to have to add more for winter for sure.

:) you'd think! Na, the halides do a great job of keeping it warm. I suppose the glass being so thick is providing some decent insulation, so the water tends to hold temperature well..heat anyway.
I have several 300w and 500w heaters on mine- maybe 2 or 3 of each... not sure. In the winter, they run almost all night long. During the summer, they come on occasionally at night on cool days.
I use this type of heater:

It's titanium, but no thermostat elements to go bad. Of course, you'll need a thermostat, but a Ranco or a multi-controller is preferred anyway.

For my 450 (over 600G total) I only have 3 150W heaters on there.
They never come on in the summer. I keep the room at 74 degrees when the lights are on and the air is off all the other times. it varies from about 79.5 to 80.5 and that's it.
In winter I heat it to 74 when the lights aren't on and turn the heat off when the lights are. It stays between 78 and 79. The heaters every once in a while have to kick on for a few hours a night but usually only if it's really cold and the room cooled significantly when the lights were on and it stuck at 78 all day. I have my heaters kick on at 78 and back off at 78.5.
Thanks for the info guys. I may order a couple of the titanium to try out before I put them on the 210.
