Does anyone have any reviews or thoughts on the Solaris I series? I am looking to use these on a 215 gal tank.

Are you serious? With all the cheapscapes around here? J/k, but seriousy, I bet you get a better response on reefcentral, if you havent already tried that.

But if someone on here does have experience with one, do tell... I wnat one myself........someday.........

I have found some reviews there. Wondered if anyone locally had them to see the the variances in the lighting to see if it is worth spening the money.

too many horror stories. efficiency seems to be in the crapper too. all that for 4grand? well I should say 8grand if thats an 8' tank.

and less light to boot...

good idea, terrible execution. PFO is selling a novelty product instead of a serious lighting option. Im more curious about the illumination one or whoever that is, atleast its supposed to be made better. still not using the most current hardware that could actually deliver on all the theoretical benefits.

I have a G series 2' light. It's not on a tank right now since I have no running tanks, but when I had it up, it was beautiful. Not as super-bright as MH or even T5, but the spectrum is very focused on what the corals need, not what your eye sees, so the tank doesn't quite have the the tidal flats looking lighting many people claim is necessary for any kind of coral growth.

I had SPS and clams under it with excellent results. The moon, day and night precession and phasing were amazing as were the cloud and sunrise/sunset effects. The unit ran super cool and the tank was only a couple degrees warmer than the ambient temperature.

About the only think I didn't like was the fans on the sides are standard computer fans. Easy to replace, but not the most durable. If someone has a less-than-standard tank, however, it's not a good option. By that I mean that the LED's don't spread out very much, so if you have a particularly deep (front to back) tank, you will have a pretty severe drop-off. They're definitely designed for the 12" - 18" front to back tanks.

The buy-in is pretty rough, though. And given the inovations being made on them, I'd wait a bit.

Um, math??? $4012 is the 72" light. $2789 for 48". An 8 foot tank would be around $5600. Yes, it's a lot of money, but quite a bit shy of 8 grand.

Sorry, I thought the 4000$ was the 48" one. or I priced it from some shady overpriced site. it was definitely shady... wasnt instock there and this was a good while ago that I looks, so its a toss up on that or my memory being lousy.
