View Full Version : Recent site statistics
Here's what I come up with, generated today.
Total registered users:
Users who have visited the site in the past:
month: 579
6 months: 1095
year: 1454Users who have made a post in the past:
month: 382
6 months: 741
year: 967ARC members:
Members who have visited the site in the past:
month: 313 (58% of total 538 members)
6 months: 421 (78%)
year: 456 (84%)Members who have made a post in the past:
month: 233 (43%)
6 months: 358 (66%)
year: 397 (73%)A Visit = logged in registered user, not just a guest.
The last number is not 100% as you might expect; site registration isn't required - you can show up at a meeting, for example. Also- a lot of sponsors don't use their accounts.
For my own future reference, here's the query that I'm using (for members in the past month):
select count(*) from user
where DateDiff(curdate(), From_UNIXTIME(lastvisit)) < 30
and membergroupids like '%10%'
Barbara 07-02-2008, 12:07 PM Chris, are the "posts" numbers actual posts, or new threads? When I come onto the site after a day or so, I see over 200 new posts since I was last logged in, which was only 24 hours or less, so I'm thinking the monthly post count is not correct.
It's actual posts. Keep in mind that one person could make 200 posts in a day, and it'd still count at 1 member posting. The numbers above are the count of members posting, not the posts themselves. It's meant to show how much activity we have among our members.
I just updated the post to be a little more clear.
FutureInterest 07-02-2008, 1:34 PM Thanks Chris!
Barbara 07-02-2008, 1:57 PM Are you messing with me Chris???? I went back and read the description again, and it says "users who have made a post in the last.......". I swear it only said "Posts" before. The new definition is much more clear!
EDIT
Oops! NM. I just saw your last sentence. I thought I was seeing things!
Barbara 07-02-2008, 2:00 PM Ooooh, can you query the number of threads? Would that be an interesting statistic? The number of unique threads per month, or per quarter, etc.?
To break it down by users vs. ARC members would be pretty difficult (doable, but I don't have that much time at the moment). Here's total threads by month since Jan 2007 (it's a system report):
January 2007 512
February 2007 591
March 2007 593
April 2007 588
May 2007 531
June 2007 659
July 2007 913
August 2007 978
September 2007 863
October 2007 915
November 2007 803
December 2007 842
January 2008 1112
February 2008 1146
March 2008 1136
April 2008 929
May 2008 967
June 2008 951
And here's total Posts for that same time frame:
January 2007 5883
February 2007 6049
March 2007 6773
April 2007 6226
May 2007 6751
June 2007 7248
July 2007 10961
August 2007 11478
September 2007 10221
October 2007 12017
November 2007 9195
December 2007 10123
January 2008 14541
February 2008 15067
March 2008 14928
April 2008 11295
May 2008 11628
June 2008 10827
mysterybox 07-02-2008, 4:22 PM That's pretty cool. Thanks!
Bleedingthought 07-03-2008, 2:30 AM A registered user who ended up becoming a member is still counted as a registered user in the numbers (before becoming a member)?
Can you come up with the numbers of registered users that aren't members (for past month, 6 months, and year), Chris? If it's not too much trouble, of course. :)

The numbers were pulled with their status as of today. If, for example, you had joined this morning (before the stats were run), then all 2000 of your posts would show up as an ARC member post. It'd be pretty difficult to pull together stats for posts based on when a user may or may not have been a member.

I'm pretty sure you can just subtract the two numbers... Non-member posts = total - ARC member posts. I'll leave this as an exercise to the reader. :)
