This is the third in a multi part series introducing the ELOS brand. Hard to go through a bunch of webpages to find the information on everything, so this series will introduce the products with both ELOS writing, and my own dumbed down experience.

From ELOS:

Corals spend energy for respiration, mucus production, growth and reproduction. Research has shown that the total energy demand cannot be met by photosynthesis alone. If we also consider that, through highly efficient protein skimming and fine mechanical filtration, we clear almost all organic molecules and particulate matter from our systems, we immediately realize that the the availability of nourishment inside our aquarium often become one of the limiting factor for the growth of our corals.
If we want to supply our corals the additional energy they needs to survive and, even better, flourish, we must offer them nourishment via a moltitude of sources like aminoacids, zooplankton and, in general DOM (dissolved organic matter) that they transport through cell membranes.

ELOS Pro Skimmer supply complex carbohydrate which provide an immediate source of energy for cellular respiration as well an important energy source beneficial for a faster biosynthesis of amino acids.

Usefull to recreate the water conditions in and around natural coral reefs, used in conjunction with Elos OMEGA it will help to significantly reduce the need of live food and DOM, a key step toward the reduction of the level of dissolved organics and also nitrogenous waste inside modern SPS populated aquaria.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Original formula: reproduces the suspended colloidal matter founded in natural seawater
Superior nutritional profiles: high bio-available carbohydrate source
No PO4 pollution: does not contains phosphate based preservative

Note : ELOS Pro Skimmer is a complex carbohydrate formula. In it we use only pure carbohydrate sources. Similar products available on the market contain various inorganic phosphate salts intentionally added to them as preservatives. To avoid the need of these preservatives we use mono-dose phials and we take great care to packing conditions, which are made into low contaminated controlled atmosphere.

From Chris/EA:

1. Mike Paletta Swears by the Omega/Pro Skimmer combo!

2. I trademarked the descriptive phrase "It's like a Energy Drink for your corals!"

2. From the first week of addition, I could tell that the polyps began to expand further and larger. Acans puffed up, and when I stopped for a week (just to see what it would do) the acans were shriveled up, with little feeders out all the time.

3. With the Pro Skimmer combination, the polyp extension and coloration under 10k lighting (with NO actinic supplements) is wicked Xtreme!

4. Along with Omega and all the other proper levels in the tank has brought numerous damaged/browned out corals back to life, in quick time!

We only carry products that we would put in our tanks!

Too bad most of the ELOS products are wicked expensive! Or I might try them out.

Steve, let me show you a photo of what happens when you use Omega and ProSkimmer together. This is over the course of about three months using these products, everything else remained the same. This lobo was bought with a rainbow appearence and lost it over the course of about a year and a half. The first photo was taken 6/3/08 the second on 7/23/08. Dramatic difference! Will it do this for all of your corals, I can't say. But it has really made a believer out of me.

I've had amazing results with these Elos products. Kudos to CHris for spreading the word.

is this like an all in one care? or would I still have to supplement everything that I already do? How much is a small bottle?

I'm using both the Pro Skimmer and Omega products. Omega is an amino acid complex and this is a food source. You can use either as a stand alone product but the combination of the two is unbelievable. I was rather skeptical at the start as well, but with wha I have spent on corals and equipment I figured why not try. I have never looked back! Unless you are dosing other amino acids or liquid coral food then you would add these along with your standard Alk/Ca/Mg, etc. I would not consider these an all in one product.

They only come in one size, and I believe both are right around $30'ish each. I will let Chris give you and exact price.

thanks. if I were to get one first which one would be best to start with? or should I just wait and get both at the same time.

Maybe Chris will chime in here with me, but I would say Omega first. But the combination of the two is awesome!

Yes, I would start with the Omega first, the combination of the two working together brings out the most amazing results.

Pricing is:
Omega is $35.99
ProSkimmer is $24.99

and they last about 6 months on a fully stocked 120 gallon system. For this concentrated of a product, the price is actually inexpensive... compare to having to buy bottles and bottles, same goes for the Ca/Mg/ect additives!

Bahh! Why didn't I pick up more of this stuff yesterday?

So this stuff is the "real thing" huh? I'm thinking of ordering some but I don't want to get suckered in to buying some additive that just disolves in my tank. This stuff seems lagit and seeing Reefknight's picture makes me belive. Hopefully I can use these products and get the same results.

If they would last 6 months on a stocked 120 that it should last almost a year on a 65g stocked mixed reef.

Thanks for all the input/reviews

I know that reefers are always being subjected to marketing and propaganda of "the next best thing for your reef". Its inevetiable to see those type ads. I decided that I was going to take the plunge and purchase those products, an investment of about $60. I'm glad that I did because I have been very happy with all of their products that I have chosen to use. As a "brand" that IMHO is just getting recognition in the states, I am happy to endorse their products. I agree with Chris's philosophy, that he won't sell a product that he wouldn't use himself. I, would not make such statements unless I believed in the products. I like the fact that Elos has not produced hugh ad campagins.(If they have, I have never seen them.) Their patrons spread the word for them.
My opinion also is this; if you are using a varied bunch of addatives already and you have great coloration and polyp extension then you might not see what I have. If you are someone who has not started using multiple addatives and coloration is a little washed (bleached) or polyp extension is fair, then I think you will see results that you will be more than happy with.
Again, these are only my opinions, but if another hobbiest can have the same positive reactions that I have had then awesome.

I picked up the Pro Skimmer and the Omega today at Einstein. I have never found Chris to be a hard sell, and I believe him about the quality of Elos products. I have been very happy with the Elos Ca+ and KH Test Kits and Plankton supplement I have already purchased.

I just uprooted about 60 SPS frags when I went from a 120 gallon to a 210 gallon tank, so I want to give the corals a kick start to getting their colors back.

I'll start dosing tomorrow and report back what I see.
