This happens to me a lot. Either I'm submitting a *quick reply* or editing/saving changes to a post and it just sits there after I click *submit* ... with that little circle going around and around and the hour glass mocking me.

If your post ever gets hung up and refuses to be submitted, here's an easy fix. Click on *Go Advanced* (while it's still hung up) and then submit from there. Works every time.

I have that problem, too, but only when I do a quick reply. The only thing that I've found that may be related is the performance of our database. We upgraded servers, but it only helps sometimes...

Linda, you are using Firefox 3? I'm pretty sure that's the same issue as what George posted. I found similar issues reported on VBulletin and it's likely due to Firefox being too strict in it's validation of the HTML.

Hey, I don't use Firefox just standard Internet explorer and it kept happening last night, but like mojo said only with quick reply.

I had the same problem and pmed Chris about it and since he told me to click "Go Advanced" I havent had it happen again. If my message is larger than a quick message (ie more than a paragraph or two) then I click the go advanced and then submit. If you click "post quick reply" and it lags, you can still click the go advanced and then it will allow you to submit.

In Firefox 2 there were huge delays in quick reply, but it did eventually work. Usually.

I don't use Firefox and this happens on both computers I use to access the site, my computer at home (IE 7.0) and my computer at work (IE 6.0). That makes me think it's a site issue and not a computer or browser issue.

I think it's a site issue too, but I am not very savvy when it comes to computers. I have found that, while being hung up on the "quick reply", if I click "Go Advanced", and then post, it goes right away. If I leave it hanging on the "quick reply", sometimes it goes slow, and sometimes it doesn't post at all and I have to start the post over.

I've experienced the same problem with firefox and ie. I have both installed on 2 of my computers. It happens on my wife's mac with Safari and Firefox as well.

sometimes it doesn't post at all and I have to start the post over.

Here's a tip: I always *Select all* and *copy* before I submit a post. That way if it ever gets lost in the process of posting, it's still on my virtual clipboard and I can re-do the post by just *pasting*.

Linda, I've never been able to "cut and paste" in a post on this forum. I've tried many times due to this exact problem of having my posts get hung up. When I highlight the text inside a post, and right-click, the only option is "select all" (it won't let me choose "copy" - the option is greyed out). I've tried.

Barbara: you can do ctrl-c with the text highlighted (or apple-c if you're on a REAL computer) :-) and that'll copy it to the clipboard.
I had problems with this on my browser (Safari) maybe a month ago, go advanced is a good workaround but I haven't had the problem recently.

Correct -- you don't have the right-click option (to open a drop-down menu). So you have to use the shortcut keys.

Highlight text and while the text you want is highlighted:

Ctrl+C (to copy to clipboard)
Ctrl+X (to cut to clipboard)

Then put your cursor where you want text and:

Ctrl+V (paste from clipboard)

Hope this helps!

I'm having this problem as well and I know this post is a couple of months old but I just wanted to know if anything has been done about it since it is a couple of months old.

I use FireFox v3.03 and use IE7.

just curious

Before submitting a post, you can right click and *select all* and *copy* (CNTRL+C) to temporarily save that text on your virtual cipboard first. That way if your post is lost, you can open another response, put your cursor in the text field and just paste (CNTRL+V). Even though you can't see it, your text will stay in memory on your clipboard until you CNTRL+C (copy) something else. You can paste it in a hundred places if you want to.

Also, before posting you can paste your CNTRL+C'd text to a MSWord document if you want to spell-check it or use a program like Word Pad or Note Pad to create a text file if you want to save it for any reason.

Well, if we are still having problems, I have started to use Apple's Safari on my Windows XP and it seems that the quick reply problem is gone for me now.

I have found that using special characters such as % and # always make it do this for me (running seamonkey). I have to go advanced anytime I want to use those characters.

I experience problems using "Quick Reply" on my home high speed cable connection using Firefox 3.0.4 on Windows XP Home. At work using "Quick Reply" on IE on Windows XP Pro (don't know what version of IE) I have no problems.

Loren and I are working on upgrading us to a later version of vBulletin in the next couple weeks, and hopefully that'll fix the issue. I hope so anyway, 'cause since my switch to Firefox, the Quick Reply hasn't worked at all, and it's very frustrating for me! :)
