I'm looking to purchase an ro/di unit, and I'd like to keep it under $200. What are the best systems for this price?

I paid less than $100 for mine from ebay.

THe units are all essentially the same. THe filters used are the big difference. Focus on the filters first. Then, I would look into a company who will stand behind their products should anything go wrong.

Have you checked out these (http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=122)?

TDS around atlanta are actually pretty good to start with so you really dont need a really high end unit.

CBA has some great units anywhere from 3 stage RO, to 5 stage RO/DI.

I got the 5 stage Ro/DI with the dual inline TDS meter, and its great. Put out well over 2000 gallons of 0 tds water, and thats before the DI stage. The resin is barly even used.

Good stuff.

I bought mine from Air Water Ice (now a sponsor) several years ago and have been very happy with the unit. Their replacement filter costs are quite low. I recommend getting the refillable resin cartridge. Very economical in the long run.

Edit: This (http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1TYPHOON/Typhoon_5_stage_RODI_Reefkeeper_75_GPD.html) is the unit I have from them.

I honestly bought a RO unit from Menards when I first started. Thought about replacing it but all seems well with it and I never have any problems. For less than 200 bucks. I am very happy with it.

I also just noticed in the product description that the units include reusable DI cartridges standard now! I had to pay $30 for mine.

They sell resin in 5lb bags for $40.

Just ordered the typhoon III.

http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1TYPHOONIII/TYPHOON_III_AQUARIUM_RO_DI_75_or_100_GPD.html

$19 ARC discount for a total of $196 (that includes shipping)! It comes with an HM digital TDS meter as well!

Ro unit arrived yesterday. Wow that was fast! Thanks AWI. I don't have it hooked up yet, but it looks impressive.

whats the difference between the typhoon and typhoon 3?

"The Typhoon III adds a DI bypass assembly, an RO only valve, a membrane fast flush valve and comes with a HM DIgital hand-held TDS Meter ($60 more value)"

And it's only $40 more. I figured the tds meter was worth it.

Hook the RO to either a faucet or into your plumbing line using a saddle valve.
