Cappuccino Bay has IO Buckets for 35.99 and Bags for 10.99.

So if SWC prices are "awesome", what adjective would you use to describe Cappuccino Bay's prices? Is less expensive than an awesome price, more awesome or less awesome?

less awesome, i don't like their corals/fish. feels like i'm shopping in someone's basement :-P but i'm weird

Agree, CBay is a great store (one of my faves), but they don't offer an ARC discount on salt.

The last time I bought salt from Sal, we got a 15% ARC discount. If salt is still being discounted at SWC for members (and the sponsor sticky doesn't show any exceptions), then that $39.99 price drops to about $34.

Also -- I've never known Sal to not have the 5g buckets in stock.

(psssssst, A-Man -- might want to put these kinds of threads in the SWC sponsor forum. Then we don't end up with the battle of the prices threads. Just an idea.)

Sorry everyone. Once again I didn't mean to offend, just wanted to post some salt prices. I asked Brandon to move this to the SWC sponsor forum. Though, I don't see how it will change anything. :)

It just keeps everything seperated, most people don't like people talking about a fish store in another fish stores forum, it dispells that kind of thing.

Still cheaper to order at Foster and Smith and have it shipped.

2x Reef Crystals = 63.98
Standard Shipping 10.99

Two buckets for $37.49 each shipped to your door.

Don't forget tax and might as well think about gas while you're at it.

Supporting a store is what it is about to me and Sal is top notch and goes out of his way to help people. That goes alot farther that a few bucks.

i dont know who it was but there is always the same employee working there when I go, and he is a total ****, doesnt answer any of my questions with more then 1 word and stands behind the counter reading a magazine

Steve

I wouldn't think that would be chris. He's new. Only been working there since late april or early may. he's a good guy. very knowledgeable. If you want to talk about this a little further, a PM or a switch to Cap Bay's forum would be good, I don't like talking about another store on a sponsors forum.

I like to ignore ****heads that complain just for the attention too. :photo: say cheese! this thread is a waist of time. If you want to complain then go stand out side and picket the store. we are all friends here.

Sal and Josh will always have my top pick on business if i can give it to them, And especially Mike too when he was there, by far the most helpful LFS ive been to, sometimes ill just walk in with a list of questions on my phone and they answer everyone, everytime. But at SWC everyone seems to be a buddy instead of a employee in the industry. And you can definately tell Sal really appreciates the business and his customers, That alone guarentees my business even if its just topoff water or bulkheads i buy. :) Thanks SWC

Maybe someone was having a bad day (or days)? No LFS's are perfect and no LFS has a perfect staff -- hey, it's not a perfect world.

Personally, I just latch onto Deb whenever I go into CapBay -- she's my hero! (And if she'd just sell me that @#$%& blue porcelain crab she has tucked away in her nano then she'd be... well, she'd be *perfect*)

 = Cap Bay

 = SWC

Sometimes it seems like our favorite LFS is like our favorite sports team. We support and praise the one we like best and dis the others -- but we're all in the same club and support the same hobby, right?

i beg to differ i think i have the perfect staff........ thats why there here....
and proud to have them.

Of course you do Sal! And you are pretty much right, you guys are great. But, your staff is hand picked and close to you. It is unfortunate in the case of Cap Bay, but as almost any business can attest to, as time marches on, you lose good people, and occasionally end up with some not so good ones. I work at C bay, and I know everyone that works there. I have to say they are all good guys and gals, but honestly some of them have been doing it for so long... I can see it wearing on them.

I don't mean this as an excuse for a bad service experience, I just want to say if possible, avoid trying to judge us all by the action of others. I am not near as knowledgeable as half of you on this forum, but I will do my best to help anyone who comes while I am there.

But anyway, on to salt prices, thanks Alan for the update. And I'm gonna come look at your tank sometime. Jin told me it was ok... ;)

horsesziggy
06-10-2008, 11:58 PM
thanks and you are right about it wearing on some people but if that happens at my store they need to go,i will not surround myself and my customers around people who dont love what they do, the only reason you lose good people is when you forget as a owner that they helped get you there and dont make worth it for them to stay,my family always had there own business i never like what they did so i went on my own no regrets,so bottom line if my guys dont like it the doors swings both ways, and i will always hand pick the best,i will not settle....
