I purchased this skimmer about 4 Months Ago in Preperation for my 75G Build. When it first arrived I set it up and ran fresh water through it for a day just to see how it all worked. Since then it's just been sitting in storage waiting for the 75G. Well Yesterday I broke it out again and noticed something very wrong. The Collection Cup is crazed all over! I can't feel the cracks on the outside but when you touch the Cup you can hear poiping and cracking noises. has Anybody Else ever seen this? Will it affect the operation of the Skimmer? I know I've seen somewhere that The Octopus has a Lifetime Warranty on the Skimmer Body but I'm not sure who i need to get in touch with to find out about this. Any Help would be Appreciated.

Hey if it holds water, it's good to go ;) I never ran into that issue before with mine. I do know the collection cups are a tad pricey to replace....actually, here is a link to it.

Thanks, I did find a replacement for $29.99 but I guess as long as it doesn't affect the skimmer itself I'll just live with it.

Here's what I got back from Dave the President of Coralvue.

The only way the acrylic can craze like that is from an airborne chemical such as paint fumes or cleaning agents with a high viscosity. The acrylic is not capable of crazing on its own without such chemical to interfere with its chemical composition.

Let me know when you want to get a new cup and we will help you out with a good price. You will not have a problem with the one you have now however.

Sounds about right response wise : ( You should be fine with the crazing unless it leaks.

And FWIW, cv and swc both have a 1yr warranty for body defects.
