View Full Version : Tank Tear Down

mwitten

I simply don't have time to maintain my tank, so it is time to let it go. I might get back into a small one sometime later, but...

Anyway, I am pulling it down in phases. First will be corals, then fish (so I can remove rocks to get to the fish without killing the corals).

More photos to follow. My camera battery has run down, so am posting now what I have photos of in hand.

SPS-

Orange Monte, about 3 inches across $25
Orange Monte frag (1.5-2 x 1 or so) $10

Large Green Pavona Plate $50

Green Slimers: 3-4 inch (Photo xx) $20
Green Slimer: 5 inches, but is partly attached to roc: $20

Teal Acro-Large colony 5-6 inches: $50
Purple Monte D., 3 inches, mostly colored on front: $25

Large (6inch +) Monte. Brown at the moment, but when conditions right has purple polyps. Grows fast. $35

Sunset Monte, about 2x2 inches or so (covers part of rock) $30

LPS
Australian Elegance (slightly purple tipped, 3-6 inches depending on mood) $100
Australian Elegance (slightly smaller, somewhat pink tipped) $75
(Both Elegance bought in June/July 2007, very healthy)

Frogspawn, good sized: $30

“Snowball” pipe organ coral: $25
Brown Pipe organ: $10

Softies:

Large Toadstool (5 inches across?) $15
Smaller Toadstool (2-3 inches across?-No photo) $10

Finger Leather (green to brown; 5-7 inches across or so): $35

This photo is of whole tank front, about 1-2 weeks ago. If you ID something I have not listed, please let me know and make an offer or I'll give you a price. Everything has to go. Again, more photos to follow. PM if interested. I cannot make the meeting this week, as I will be traveling. This/next weekend best. I live in the Emory area.

SPS Stuff. More to follow later when I get some more pictures.

Smaller slimer is dead center at the front of tank.

Note: I have no problem if someone wants to get this stuff to frag. I simply don't have time.

I'll start responding more when I get this batch fully posted.... Frogspawn is in the main photo, left-center about 6 inches above bottom of tank. Will have more photos later, I think. Sunset Monte is from a frag of Melissa's. Grows well if you don't overlight it.

LPS (I think they all fall in this category...)
2 are the Elegance corals, one is a more general shot showing frogspawn, Pavona (SPS, I believe), Snowball and a few other items.

Missed this one in LPS. It is a small plate coral. It is really a yellow/green, but very hard to photograph.

Remainder of this batch (Softies).

Have not decided how to part out the Zoe's. I have 3 good blocks of green-eyed, and a large rock covered with some brown ones. Anyway...

what fish do you have

mwitten
05-10-2008, 1:23 PM
Currently, I have 3 fish (a friend has asked for the 4th), as well as a skunk cleaner shrimp and other items.

The three fish are a clown (Clarkie, I think... it came with a tank I got), A Copper Banded Butterfly that is about a year old (medium size).. has not eaten corals, etc., and a Fiji Foxface, about 6 inches long. I'll give the Clown to a good home. Copper Banded and Fiji will be about $30 each.

I'll have photos of all of these. It will likely be 1-3 weeks before I can sell them, however, since I want ALL of the corals gone before I go after those guys.

i would like to have one of the anemones with the white tips. let me know if t is still available. pm sent

mwitten

Those two things that look like anemone's are Elegance corals. My Clown has not seemed to want to host in those; they may have a bit too much sting for him (he keeps adopting the Xenia) I have had them well past the normal time that the "elegance" disease would have shown itself, and they are still going strong. Also, that problem has not been seen (at least very often) in the Australian Elegance corals, according to my research. They came from Dr. Mac's originally.

Also: Forgot to put a price on the plate coral. That is $15.00.

The Clam I'll let go for $5. That is low because last year when I got him I put a crack in a piece of his shell He has thrived that way for months, but there is some risk. Mostly looking for a home for it.

More stuff will be posted later this morning.

Thanks to those who came by yesterday! It was great meeting you!

An unknown pink acro colony, about 2x2 inches. $10.00
10751

OK, my internet is back now, more or less, as is my power. Fortunately a good friend had a working generator, so my tank survived. Lesson learned #5988, TEST your generator regularly!

The Pavona and all but a small frag of Green Slimer are gone. Indigo is gone, as is the purple monte d. and the Pokerstar is pending. The large plate monte (purple polyp, when water and light are right) is still available, along with the pink stuff, the acro's, Elegance, etc. I am dropping the price on the Elegance to $75 each.

I'll try to put an updated list together tonight or early tomorrow.

I will be looking for homes for the Copper Banded, the Fiji Foxface, and the Clown THIS WEEKEND.

05-13-2008, 9:11 AM
Remaining:

Both Orange Monte Cap's. ($10 & $25)
Very Large Teal acro colony ($50)
Large 6 inch+ Monte Plate: Purple polyps when light/flow right $35.00

Australian Elegance: $75 and $60

Most or all of what was posted in post #25 (Pink stuff, etc.)

I also have a Favia (greenish), about 3x3 inches, no photo (yet): $10.00

And another Favia-like (not Favia, but I don't remember the name off hand) light brown/white 2x3: $10.00

I have a few other frags and things to peruse if you come by. Some free, others 5-10, depending.

3 fish:

Fiji Foxface, 6 inches + ($20)

Medium Copper Banded Butterfly (aiptasia eater), eating well for almost a year, I think: $35.00

Clown, Clarkie I think, free to good home.

Most of these are OBO, and multiple purchases may rate a deal (or at least an extra).

I am low on bags and containers... suggest folks bring bags and a bucket. Many of these are sharp.

Thanks!

I looked one more up... The unknown favia-like coral is a very light grey (vaguely pink) Diploastrea, about 3 inches diameter. I have had it since the original SaltwaterU. If you have Sprung coral book, it is very similar to the one at the top of page 107, next to the description of Diploastrea. I have not noticed it being aggressive at all, but it has survived a lot of my "learning curve".

Pokerstar is now gone, and the large blue-tipped Acro colony as well as the Pink Pocillopora are pending, with probable sale.

Purple Monte Digi is back in play (we had some confusion about that one). Price now $15.

The purple Monti Digi is in his new home all snug and cozy. He is acclimating in a lower flow lower light corner for the moment. I'll begin to move him out into the light over the next few days.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Well.. It's pretty much all gone. In about 3 weeks, I'll be posting some live rock, and a few cleanup crew critters, as well has some hardware. Until then, however, all items are gone.

It was strange last night to realize that for the first time in 5 years I did not have to feed the fish...

My guys are all doing well too...I have the elegance corals in two separate tanks and it's obvious to me that I need to buy different lights for the smaller tank. The current lighting just doesn't do this coral justice. In any case, everything is healthy and looking good. Thanks again Mike!
