The Atlanta Reef Club has been given a special invite by the Georiga Aquarium to hear a lecture by Dr. Richard Pyle. More information:
"Join us on Nov. 10, 2006, at 7 p.m. as Georgia Aquarium hosts Dr. Richard Pyle, the world's pre-eminent underwater explorer, at the Aquarium's first lecture. Tickets are limited, and annual pass members get the first opportunity to buy tickets and speak with the expert. Go on a journey to regions of the planet no one has seen before, and get a more in-depth look at the creatures of the sea. To purchase tickets, call 404.581.4000 and select option 0. Learn more about Dr. Richard Pyle and the lecture series." http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/supportus/events.aspx (http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/supportus/events.aspx)
More on Dr. Pyle's research interests:
Evolutionary biology of marine fishes, with particular emphasis on systematics, biogeography, hybridization, and mimicry.
Exploration of deep coral reefs using advanced diving technology.
Design and development of computer databases for biological data.
See his bio here (http://hbs.bishopmuseum.org/staff/pylerichard.html).
We'll be paying individually.
Details on registration:
Call 404-581-4000 and use Option 0
Ask for the Richard Pyle lecture, although it's the only one going on right now, so they'll know which one you're talking about.
Tickets are $18 for annual pass holders, $20 for non-pass holders. (Sorry- I was told it would be cheaper).
You'll be entering through the education entrance, near the normal entrance.
Who all is going? I'll be there...
