View Full Version : Big sale coming May 3rd and 4th

I just got back from Marine Fish. I went there to get a light bulb and to have my water tested. Left with a really cool fish.

They have tons of corals and fish right now, and they are gearing up for a huge sale coming up on May 3rd and 4th. They are going to have about 50 total "workers" there just to support the turnout they expect. They are going to have many things on sale at 50% off, including fish and tanks! And they expect many vendors there to talk about their products. I think Dave mentioned at least 6-8 different companies' vendors would be there. Wow! I decided to wait to buy my bulb until this big sale. I'll be there when they open. I think it will either start at 9am or 10am May 3rd. I'm looking forward to it. Dave told me it's been in the planning stages for a little over a month, and has finally been confirmed with all the vendors who are coming. Free food too.

I find it amusing how SatlwaterCity has started a trend.

I don't think they were copying SWC. Theirs has been in the works for months, but they were lining up their representatives from the various vendors and took a while to get that many vendors coordinated. They have at least 6-8 different company reps lined up. But hey, I'll take 2 sales within a month of each other! It's a good deal for the club members! I hope more sponsors do this.

Thanks for the post Barbara! Apparently, my boss has been planning, scheming, and organizing this mega sale for a long time now. I've only been told about it relatively recently. I still don't even know all of the details. All I know is that this sale is going to be huge!

So far, I'll let you guys know what I've been told. All livestock is going to be 50% off...no questions asked. If it's in the store, and alive customers will get 50% off. As far as tanks go, tanks are going to range from 35-50% off. Honestly, there are only a few tanks that will be 35%. The majority will be about 50% off. We have over 20 companies and their sales representatives preparing for this sale, so the deals will be everywhere and everywhere. I wish I knew more though! There's supposed to be a lot more about this sale that even I don't even know about. I'll keep everybody posted as I find out!

Ok if that's true Barbra, where were all the BIG sales before SaltwaterCity came around? In the past certain LFS's use to send out some sort of discounted coupons or notices in the mail to customers certain times of the year. In the years I've been in this hobby and lived in Atlanta, I've never seen or heard of such a sale. It's all good..... and all I'm trying to say is stores today need too and have too be more creative to attract customers. The economy and technology has caused this trend and today the buzz on the street is SaltwaterCity.

Marine and Reef have had large sales in the past. I bought a 75 gallon Reef Ready at their last one. This is by no means the start of sales events at Marine and Reef.

I have to say that I only been there once and did not buy anything. But I got to say it is 1 of the top 5 store on my list if I ever need something.

I'm sorry Linda, but this was posted by a member not the sponsor and as a member I have a right to say what I feel. I have no agenda and as you can tell from my past post history, I don't get involved with all the politics. You can all say what you feel. I'm all for sales and what's going on. Marine and Fish is a first class store and we should hope that more sponsored and non-sponsored LFS's follow this trend in our area. It's all good for everyone not just ARC members, Cheers!!!

It was posted by a member in the sponsor's forum about a sponsor's store and a sponsor's sale. And I'll maintain my stance that you, as a representative of SWC, coming into that sponsor's forum and pushing SWC is uncool. It's not politics. It's ethics.

If another sponsor came into the SWC forum and discussed their own store/business/sales/products/practices I'd say the same thing.

I just got back from Marine fish and talked with Patrick about the sale and it sounds like it is going to be bigger than anything we have seen. The tanks are even up to 50% off. Also Patrick told me that there are going to be a lot of manufacturer reps their on Saturday.
I am going to be there when the doors open Saturday. I think I found my new tank.

Yep sounds good. I think he may have showed me my new tank while we were in there today. Good to see you again Drew but I am starting to wonder if you are following me around.

This sale is really going to be awesome! This will definitely be the biggest aquarium sale on the east coast, possibly the biggest in the US. Nobody has ever attempted to do 50% off tanks! Here are some of the details. I posted them in another thread, but this thread seems to get more views..

We are going to have tanks from Oceanic, Deep Sea, Marineland, All Glass, and Perfecto. Any tank above 55g will be marked 50% off with the exception of some difficult to manufacture Deep Sea tanks (DS 185, 90 Neo). Those will be marked 35%. If you guys want one of the higher end, nicer tanks...like the Oceanic Tech Series, new Marineland Series, or Starfire tanks, I would definitely come by the store to reserve it now to ensure that you get one at the sale price!

If you guys are looking for a big, deep tank..I would reccommend coming by and looking at the new Marineland tanks. They are all a standard 36" deep. We're the first store on the East Coast to even carry them, possibly first in the US! They come in 36"x36" (150g) , 48"x36" (200g), and 72"x36" (300g)! The 72"x36" is the largest manufactured tank ever! These tanks all come with a starfire front, and they're 50% off!!!

Hope to see you guys coming into the store over the next 2 weeks. We have a lot of great stuff coming in... livestocks, dry goods, etc... This really is going to be a "Carnival of Savings"!

What a pain!!!

We have have some flame angels in stock. I don't have any micro babies or anything, but I know we will be getting another Hawaiian order sometime before the sale! I'm getting stock in every day until the day of the sale. We're already overstocked as it is right now! This sale is going to be awesome!

If you get some *true* Hawaiin flame angelfish, I want dibs! I understand they're rare though and that although most flame angelfish are shipped from Hawaii, they're via the Cook Islands or Christmas Island and not actually Hawaiin.

So can you call dibs/reserve things and still get them at the sale price on Sat?

Also, are you guys getting in any other varieties of MH bulbs than what you usually carry? Like phoenix?

You could empty the fish bag into a small cooler and use a small, battery-operated pump to keep the water aerated.

Chris, they were allowing us to reserve fish and tanks. I don't know about other stuff, but I do believe the ole "dibs" rule is full on for fish and tanks!

Call them and ask. It never hurts to ask. The worst that can happen is they say "no", and then, what did you lose? 2 minutes for the phone call? Do it. You just might get the answer you want to hear!

Their address is in their sponsor section. Click the link for ARC sponsors, then look under their site for the "sponsor information". It will give you the address.

I talked to Dave yesterday, and their original plan is/was to open at 10am, but they're already bracing themselves for the possiblity of a mob in the parking lot earlier than 10am.

I want to go, but hate going there not knowing anyone else, which sounds silly, because you really don't need to "know" anyone else to go there... maybe I'm just rambling, trying to talk myself into going, versus not going... 7-9pm... coming all the way from the southside.... yep, just rambling...

Premier Aquatics does the maintenance on the tank in our lobby and I got a card inviting me to a "VIP Reception" that is supposed to be for tomorrow night. It says to bring the card to the event. I imagine that it was sent to all of their clients? Now that I look at it again, it does say to "RSVP" for it and I haven't done it, so it may be too late for me?
