View Full Version : New Location: Decision Yet? Still On?
jtshack 04-05-2008, 5:03 PM I saw the earlier thread talking about possibly opening a location on our side of town (northeast Atl) and suggestions for locations, but I didn't see anything indicating a decision had been made or even if the new store was still being planned... Well? Is it? ...If so, Where? If you're still taking votes, my suggestion is Cumming, Buford, or Lawrenceville.
Have to admit that I had no intention of spending anything when we went...Was in the area to pick up a tank for my mother from Thiago and he suggested we check out the store...my wallet is sorry we did! As if that weren't bad enough, that was just Friday...today is Saturday and we're headed back!! Well worth the drive from Maysville to check out this store!
horsesziggy 04-05-2008, 5:51 PM well if you want to now met with brokers today in two cities looking at locations,so its still up in the air as far as location....;
xokarmaxo 04-05-2008, 11:47 PM Ummm.... how about somewhere on the southside of Atlanta?? :D
johnr2604 04-06-2008, 12:31 AM Something tells me the brokers may have been NE and S Atlanta.
tangsrbest 04-06-2008, 1:22 AM how about huntsville or guntersville al all the salt water is cra_ since i got out
need a good store real bad
jade76 04-06-2008, 1:53 AM PLEASE COME CLOSER TO ATLANTA!!!!! AND NOT F@#*ING LAWERNCVILLE!!!
THERE IS NOTHING DOWNTOWN !! I love going to fish stores but man it takes me 45 min to get to the closest ones..and I live very accessibly downtown.

I dont think they are going to be going across state lines anytime soon.
reefage518 04-06-2008, 4:57 AM i say downtown as well! i live downtown and it sucks having to drive through traffic with living animals in the car.
jtshack 04-06-2008, 9:02 AM I want to feel bad for you jade76, but considering I spent 1.5 hours EACH WAY to get what I needed, I'm all for something for the folks up here on the northeast side of town. Sal told me while I was there last night what he has planned, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say anything - so on that note, I'm keeping mum on the subject until he spills the beans. :whistling:
On another note, second visit in two days - kudos to Josh, Mike, and Steve for putting up with me! Really having a mental battle with myself whether to thank Thiago for showing me SWC or kicking his a$$ for it! :bash:
I guess since I got such a killer deal on my lights and stuff I'll let him off the hook!

It's freaking crazy that in a city of 5 million people we don't have a decent fish store within the city limits.
jade76 04-06-2008, 11:10 AM Just so Im not misunderstood...I love all our LFS. however demographically, there are a bunch grouped together in marietta, and then a bunch grouped together in gwinnet. Its just my little humble opinon (I choose to live downtown) that makes it seem inconveinant for a "quick trip" to the LFS. As they are the only reason I tend to leave downtown for.
horsesziggy 04-06-2008, 11:22 AM i have looked down town also but the rent alone is just f--king crazy.
sal
jade76 04-06-2008, 11:28 AM Sal I totallty understand. Im pretty sure thats what ran The Fish store and more out of town too. However on the flip side...I VERY HAPPY FOR YA LOOKING INTO ANOTHER STORE!!! CongratZZ!!
reefage518 04-06-2008, 12:25 PM if you move downtown ill work for you!!!
johnr2604 04-06-2008, 3:15 PM i have looked down town also but the rent alone is just f--king crazy.
salWhich is exactly why you dont see LFS downtown. They want alot of money per SF on commercial space downtown.
Rockdog 04-06-2008, 3:29 PM Sal could only afford to be downtown if ALL his staff was Volunteer!! I still think he would have to raise his priceswell beyond the OTP pet shops. Just a thought.
tangsrbest 04-06-2008, 10:47 PM just hoping err dreaming i guess
horsesziggy 04-06-2008, 11:24 PM ok if everyone chips in on rent i'll go downtown.
sal
Jgoal55 04-06-2008, 11:47 PM haha...we can do co-op ownership like REI does.....
sailfish 04-06-2008, 11:57 PM I would like somewhere in the city limits myself.
Sandy Spring, Jimmy Carter/Duluth would be nice.
Then I would probaly spend more than I should.
Joe
Jgoal55 04-06-2008, 11:59 PM heck, now that I think about it.....How does Miami sound Sal????
no competition AT ALL!!!
jtshack 04-07-2008, 1:09 AM I could handle Jimmy Carter...don't know how much that area costs to rent commercially, but it's a much shorter drive for me for sure...
And Jade76...please know I wasn't picking on you - just making a point that it's a DRIVE for us too...hope you didn't take offense...none intended.
So Sal...where ya gonna live when your wife boots you out for opening another store? Might be a good idea to consider property with living quarters!!
:lol3:
Just kidding...she wouldn't do that...would she? :confused2:
Bleedingthought 04-07-2008, 1:53 AM On another note, second visit in two days - kudos to Josh, Mike, and Steve for putting up with me! Really having a mental battle with myself whether to thank Thiago for showing me SWC or kicking his a$$ for it! :bash:
:lol3:

BASSCYN 04-07-2008, 1:48 PM Buford / Lawrenceville? DO IT!!
I live in Lawrenceville and work in Buford. We have nothing here. It would be a hit for sure! I would imagine Gwinnett holds a strong base of customers for you. North Gwinnett is exploding...and will continue to explode. DO iT!
All we have is the Avi-friggin-arium in Duluth.:yuk:
Not too far off is Nemo Fish in Lilburn. Excellent store. Great selection of fish...very nice staff. Pretty much a fish only store though...but top notch!
Make it happen!
kwl1763 04-07-2008, 5:00 PM Mall of georgia area baby!
Rockdog 04-07-2008, 5:08 PM rent too hight near the mall!! LAWRENCEVILLE, I may even work a day or two a week for you... we could work out a "Will Work for Coral" program!!
Steve 04-07-2008, 10:31 PM rent too hight near the mall!! LAWRENCEVILLE, I may even work a day or two a week for you... we could work out a "Will Work for Coral" program!!
That's what I'm doing now at Saltwater City. That's how they have enough money to buy all the stuff they do. They don't have to pay me. haha
But on another note. I really want them to be successful and if they need any help without paying me for it, I'll be there, if they need help they can call me and if I can make it up to the store I'll definately be there ASAP.
Just give it time, they'll lexpand.
aceheart1976 04-14-2008, 10:16 PM new location?????????? how about something close to conyers ga???? woooohoooooo LOL i would be in there every week then lol and would be there for the grand opening too :)
LorenK 04-14-2008, 10:43 PM My father once told me "you can live in your car, but you can't drive your house"...so keep the truck.

clovis829 04-16-2008, 3:10 PM I say Cumming!
reefage518 04-16-2008, 4:59 PM we really need you downtown. besides, you would probably be able to pull in a decent cliantal.
jtshack 04-16-2008, 5:48 PM ummmm...decent clientele? What are we? Chopped liver? :confused2:
aceheart1976 04-16-2008, 6:58 PM i still say somewhere near conyers ga, got alot of peeps out this way im sure of that would love to see SWC come closer :)
jtshack 04-16-2008, 9:51 PM Sal, when are you going to spill the beans on this?
RaisingTwo2006 04-16-2008, 10:30 PM I say anywhere south of Atlanta- maybe somewhere around the Stadium. There are NO fish stores there that I know of, and I'll be able to come by at least once a week :)
horsesziggy 04-16-2008, 11:55 PM its still in the air but in the works
aceheart1976 04-18-2008, 10:55 PM whats the possible locations so far sal?
aceheart1976 04-26-2008, 11:43 PM im guessing this is undecided right now still :(
williamc 04-27-2008, 12:08 AM Cherokee Co. We are going to have a new mall next year. This county is growing really fast.
aceheart1976 04-27-2008, 12:11 AM covington seems to be growing real fast too. just depends on where sal wants to go i guess lol
TriGa22 04-27-2008, 9:57 AM William cherokee has a few stores or at least some that are near.
Melissa 04-29-2008, 11:10 AM i have looked down town also but the rent alone is just f--king crazy.
sal
Oh, come on! You could rent cheap in the ghetto where I live. I vote for a Memorial Drive location, near i-20. There might be something nice near Ann's Snack Bar (http://blissfulglutton.blogspot.com/2007/08/anns-snack-bar-memorial-drive.html), home of the Ghetto Burger. :D

if its in conyers or covington you might even get some help from me during the week after i get off of my normal welding job LOL
Dude........She was not wearing gloves when she was making those patties. Home of the ghetto burger where the special seasoning is some under the nail gunk! EWWWWWW
jgilley84 05-18-2008, 5:50 PM lol its going to be in my house and i will get all the stuff i want for free lol i wish
aceheart1976 05-18-2008, 6:21 PM dawgdude, i agree with that. dont think i would eat there if i had to and it was free lol
theplatypus 05-18-2008, 6:34 PM dawgdude, i agree with that. dont think i would eat there if i had to and it was free lol
You have no idea as to what you're missing.
aceheart1976 05-18-2008, 7:04 PM scares me when i see people i dont know preparing food bare handed lol. thats why i rather not see whats going on in the kitchen at the restaraunts
jtshack 05-18-2008, 9:02 PM scares me when i see people i dont know preparing food bare handed lol. thats why i rather not see whats going on in the kitchen at the restaraunts
gloves aren't total protection either...people still pick their nose and scratch their behinds...if you ever watch that special about what goes on behind the scenes at restaurants, you'll never eat out again. :yuk:  :mad2:
It's probably better to NOT know!
aceheart1976 05-18-2008, 9:10 PM you got that right tracey, i rather not know what goes on behind the doors lol.... unless im behind them LOL
jaydm93teg 05-18-2008, 9:16 PM i manage a restraunt and like stated earlier gloves really are just for looks.....u watch some people get to work put gloves on and never take them off touching doors and trash cans and trash bags and then handeling food.......my restraunt we have an oven that goes off every 30 minutes cause and every 30 minutes every person in the kitchen washes their hands and changes their gloves........alot of times bare handed is more sanitary cause you tend to wash your hands more when u handle food bare handed......if you have gloves on your hands dont "feel dirty" so u really dont think about changing gloves....................just my little opinon since im in the food industry
aceheart1976 05-18-2008, 10:38 PM jayd, you have a point there, as long as people dont see whats going on in the back they dont really think about it lol
horsesziggy 05-18-2008, 11:29 PM hey ace, the plans are we would like to be between cumming and kennesaw,if i get this together it will be fresh and salt, would love to shoot for a fall open ????? if all goes right??????????
jgilley84 05-18-2008, 11:32 PM darn i was hoping a lil closer then that you guys are still going to have the one you are at now right?
