Great looking corals. I went in there the other day just to get water and couldn't help but take home a new coral. I really need to get my RO/DI unit setup so I don't have to go in there once a week.

I got one straight from Fiji out of the bag. It came in on their shipment and had great colors. He is probably around 6".

I have had the same experience with elegance, I have had two die within a week of putting them in the tank, but the one I bought from Sal has been in the tank for about two weeks or so and is doing amazing!

Sal is using some type of Coral Growth Hormone to make his corals look bright and grow bigger. I bet he is spraying it into the air also and pumping in oxygen to make us feel more like opening our wallets...I even heard rumors they use a voodoo air freshener!:confused2:

I've heard that the windows are blacked out so you can't see what time of day it is outside; there are no clocks; the air is superoxygenated; he takes all forms of payments and will also supply free drinks while you're shopping. The only thing missing is the dice! :shades:

Congratulations on getting one that lived!

There are some excellent threads on reefcentral about elegance corals -- one guy has a theory that the elegances that die in people's tanks were collected from deep water (114) feet and get 'sunburned' in our bright tanks and die.

His theory is that since the corals from Australia are being newly collected they are still getting the shallow-water ones and not having to dive very deep the way they do in Indonesia where they've beein overcollected. That means they are already used to bright light and have a much easier time being acclimated to our tanks.

i just read that thread, i would have to say i agree...i originally placed the elegance at the top of the tank, and he didnt inflate for the first couple of days, so i read up on them and moved him to the bottom of my tank and dosed heavy feedings of pappone, and almost immediatly he bounced right back.. i would have to say that these australian elegances are more hardy..

hey guys i have got hooked up with aussie corals and i will not be beat on $ if i thought they were not going to live i would not bring them in,also the voodoo berry and oxygen thing may be true but if you want a drink ask or a roll of the dice i'm always willing this is fun not a job.

Gary, Stay AWAY. Sal has something in the air of his store that makes you buy stuff, sometimes stuff you didn't even know you wanted.

Just because he has great prices on great corals and fish, it's really the air he pumps in. If you do go, hold your breath while you're in the store.

Its not just in the air. If i'm driving by my car just turns all by itself. It's kinda like the krispie kreme "hot" sign. I must stop this.

Smart move..there are tons of great LRS/LFS that have lots to offer, not to mention all the reefers that frag their corals all the time and upgrade equipment.
