How about pass some this way. :D U up for a trade?
johnr2604 03-22-2008, 10:25 PM So there are a couple of new additions thanks to saltwater city:thumbs:
johnr2604 03-24-2008, 2:11 AM I just converted the second chamber to a fuge and added 2 lbs of live rubble to the bottom. I added purigen and carbon to the third chamber. I am expecting the skimmer, korilia nano and my Alk test kit tomorrow. all the parameters are looking good.
johnr2604 03-31-2008, 8:25 PM O.K so I have made some more changes and added a fish. I rescaped the rocks, got rid of the sally lightfoot and added a small flame hawk.
I am giving the oceanic skimmer a shot and installed my koralia. I just ordered my 70w HQI retro from aquabuys and hope to see it in a couple of days:thumbs:
glxtrix 03-31-2008, 8:38 PM Awesome progress. You're really going to like the 70W halide from Sam. That was my first halide back in the day. What bulb you plan on running?
LiveRock27 03-31-2008, 9:03 PM Nice meeting you the other day at SWC. The tank is looking great and can't wait to see it with the new light. Glad you finally caught the Sally.

johnr2604 03-31-2008, 9:34 PM Nice meeting you the other day at SWC. The tank is looking great and can't wait to see it with the new light. Glad you finally caught the Sally.Yeah, I'm pretty pumped about the light. The crab was actually pretty easy to catch once I knew how;)
johnr2604 04-01-2008, 12:08 AM here are some pics of the new aquascape. It didn't change a whole lot but it did change.http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e395/jetskiking/newaquascape2internet.jpg
johnr2604 04-02-2008, 8:24 PM Yes Sir:thumbs: I'm fixing to do the mod right now. New ricordea today also;)
LiveRock27 04-02-2008, 8:50 PM Good luck with the new light mod. I was going to drop you a line and tell you that SWC had some nice Orange Rics. 3 on 1 rock.
johnr2604 04-03-2008, 2:12 AM O.K. its done. I also shoehorned a 80mm fan in there. Its bright:thumbs:

nice. cant wait to see lit up.
Chemically_Balanced 04-03-2008, 8:55 AM This is great to see a person that has done all his homework and looks to have the makings of really nice Nano. I'm sure this goes with out saying but I think we are all excited to see this come together.
GREAT JOB SO FAR AND KEEP THE POSTS COMING.
LiveRock27 04-03-2008, 8:58 AM Very nice work! Now you know you have to take pictures today when the lights come on.
johnr2604 04-03-2008, 7:40 PM O.K I decided I am going to pull the reflector out that came with the retro. I am getting a weird mix with the PC's because the reflector blocks them in the middle a little. I noticed nanocustoms has their's set up this way so it shouldn't cause a problem. Tank temps are looking good also;) . I will get some pics up with the new light running. My wife just said I cant believe our tank was that dark when I turned The halide off to show her the difference.
On another note I just emptied my skimmer and actually had a syrup like skimmate. So it looks like if your willing to work with the oceanic skimmer you can get something out other than water.
johnr2604 04-03-2008, 10:56 PM Here is the full tank with metal halide. you can see the "shimmer" on the back wall

LiveRock27 04-03-2008, 11:52 PM The new lights look great and I have to agree with you on the skimmer. It took me about a month or more to get it dialed in, but now mine is pulling alot of crap out of my water. The big question is what all new corals are you going to put in there?
johnr2604 04-04-2008, 1:54 PM O.K I changed it around a little and am getting alot better mix of the lighting.

I thought you said skimmer not shimmer. I looked as hard as I could...
Where are the before and after pictures of the tank with and with out the reflector?

Where are the before and after pictures of the tank with and with out the reflector?I actually said both in almost the same sentence. would that be a double negative.
The picture is without reflector. I was stupid and forgot to take a pic with it. It didn't look as good and especially when the HQI was off. the reflector blocked the mixing of the light in the center of the tank. The back center looked like a FW setup. I almost immediately pulled it off when I saw it.
On another note I did a little more modding in the last pic. I moved the mounting for the socket to behind the bc reflector which gave me enough clearence to run the uv filter that came with the retro. The glass I used on the lense was a little thin and wanted to be safe.
johnr2604 04-06-2008, 5:42 PM O.K. here are some more pics. I went to Saltwater City yesterday and Cap bay. I got my first SPS's. Blue tip Acro and a Millipora. I also picked up a blasto and FL orange ric

he got it from saltwater city
johnr2604 05-20-2008, 8:56 PM Here is an update. The cube is doing great. My temps are at 79-80 deg so I am pleased with the mod. I am not real satisfied with the led placment so I am going to add some for the front.
I had a little hickup about a month ago and the tank tried to crash. I was able to avert anything major. I did loose the purple tip acro. I still have no idea what caused it. Anyway the tank seams to be thriving now and my corals are showing some growth.

FutureInterest 05-22-2008, 9:18 PM Its not a cestipularia but it definitely does look pretty blue. Very good looking nano. Thanks for sharing!
johnr2604 07-11-2008, 12:03 AM So I was digging through some pics and found these. I bought this birdsnest frag from rit when he tore his tank down about 2 months ago. I ran across a pic I took after I first got it. I am pretty amazed how fast this has grown
