Ok, So as many of you already know, We have a very special guest for our March meeting. Our guest is host of the popular "Pod Cast" show, Reefcast (http://www.reefcast.com/). Our special guest has made sure that you know the difference between a Scypha sponge and sphaeromatid isopods on his Critter ID (http://www.melevsreef.com/id/index.html)pages that we reference so often here on our forums. Our guest is the first person many of us turn to when we want to jump into a DIY project and get some great ideas. If you do not already know, you might have guessed, our guest this month is none other then Marc Levenson from Melevsreef (http://www.melevsreef.com/index.html).

We are letting Marc run wild this month, basically do whatever he wants and talk to you about whatever comes to mind. We might have some DIY discussions, Some husbandry discussions, a bit of everything that Marc has learned over his years in reef keeping.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11th, starting at 7:00pm. The location for this month will be at Steve Shindell's office. If you want to arrive early to trade frags and equipment, you are more then welcome to.

Are meetings ever held somewhere other than Shindell's office?

Yes, When we can find a space that can fit us and fits into our budget. For March meeting, I wanted to move it elsewhere but all the places were were trying to find around 285 either fell through, could not fit the 100+ people I think will be at this meeting, or were just too expensive ($500+ for the evening). I WANT to move the meetings elsewhere around the city but I NEED help from people who have the time to scout out different locations.

Excellent. Is he flying into Atlanta just for this? Did we hire him?

Reefcast along with Talking Reef are permanent fixtures on my iPod.

No, I was trying to throw you off so maybe you would get confused and not come. You are too quick for me.

Yay! I finally get to come to a meeting. I moved a rehearsal for you guys! Sounds like this will be a great meeting.

I might be running a bit late, though. My last student on Tuesdays is supposed to leave at 6, but is sometimes running late, and I'm driving up from Peachtree City. I promise I'm not always this rude!

Since Tim won't be bringing ouir powerbuy salt to the meeting - if anyone is going to pick up theirs and will be at the meeting, or that lives anyplace near either Buckhead or southwest Atlanta, could I ask you to pick up mine?

Thanks,

John

Undoubtedly, one of the best meetings I've been to. Thanks so much to Brandon and Jeremy for arranging this. Thanks also to Helene, Bob Lemcke and everyone else involved in the great frag raffle. I know that was a lot of work.

And a very personal thanks to Brandon, Jeremy, Helene and especially Bob Lemcke for helping me out of a jam on the way home. Truly a great group of folks who are more than willing to go the extra mile. I hope I'll be put in the position very soon to return the favor to someone else in need.

Part of the PB was for the salt to be "picked up" at his business...No where I saw that he was responsible for delivering all that salt....Would be rude for us to expect that much salt to be delivered for little to almost no profit...

Last night was my first meeting, content was incredible, being a newbie I learnt a HELL of alot. We enjoyed the sharing, concepts, ideas. It seems like an incredibly active group.

I do have to say I was shocked at the disrespect that the members paid to BOTH speakers from the back of the room. YES, THAT'S YOU IF YOUR WERE TALKING IN THE BACK OF THE ROOM!! Is it normal to ignore the fact that someone else is presenting in the room and to continue discussions verbosely during the presentation, in the room of the presentation? Is this typical behavior?

Guys and gals, I don't know any of you, I have no idea who you all are, backgrounds, professions, nothing. I assume most folk attending are well paid professionals of some sort. Surely you know better, last nights behaviors was completely unprofessional, I am shocked!

My 13 year old son knows better!!

I have to concur and I also apologize for our group. I guess we need to slap those loud-mouths around just a bit; they could have gone out into the lobby on the other side of the closed door to socialize.

And welcome to the Club, Andrew!! It was nice meeting you and your very well-mannered son. Glad he won a raffle item! Also, in the future, feel free to move to the front away from the ruckus. Bob's presentation on the Saltwater U Teen Program was very good and I hope you didn't miss too much of it.

I have to agree also. This has been happening at a lot of the meetings. If people are going to trade and converse during the meeting in that back room we need to close that partition completely. It is very disrespectful to our speakers and guests. If you are sitting in the back, as I was, it was impossible to hear.

I think it might be a good idea to have the sign in table and raffle table in the lobby or another room. Obvioulsy depending on the location of the meeting but they should be seperate so those that come in after the presentation starts can sign in without disturbing the speaker.

I think that is a great idea to have the raffle table and sign in table in another room. That would definitely cut down on the noise.
