View Full Version : *Fish Discussion* Forum?
Linda Lee 02-23-2008, 9:19 AM We have a forum for *Reef Discussion*, but I'd sure like to see a forum that's specifically for fish. It would be especially good for members with FOWLR's who have a lot of fish issues/questions/comments, etc. that seem out of place in a reef thread.
Curator 02-23-2008, 3:56 PM Linda,
What is FOWLR?
roundman 02-23-2008, 5:11 PM Fish only with live rock.
I'm not linda but know the answer lol
I've got a fish only w/live rock and have some issues I'd post there?
Here's one nasty example that I'd be happy to discuss/review.
Had to dip him and the cure almost killed him!

Loren, if you start calling me "Roundman", I will poison your lasagne.
ericmcj31 02-23-2008, 6:15 PM That's a nasty "burn"
Wow... is he recovering?
:(
He's doing better; Here's what happened ~ he developed a severe case of white slime all over, eyes got cloudy, hovered over in the top corner of the tank. I panicked, tried to find Methylene Blue to dip him but no one near me had any!
Bought Quick Cure (malachite green/formaline) 2 drops in one gallon of tank water - 10 second dip followed by 1 minute cleansing in untreated tank water - repeated and put him back in tank, 1 minute later he shook like a dog and all the slime fell off, next day the burns.
Treated the tank with Melafix yesterday and he appears to be OK! Eating like a horse and does not appear to be getting any worse.
Got fish from Tim @ Keen on special order and was so happy when I saw him and his size (the fish -not Tim)~ These things happen, don't have any issues with Keen Reef. In fact was there again today giving him some of my hard earned retirement money.
Sorry for the long story, had to get it off my chest!
Linda Lee 02-23-2008, 6:28 PM Hope he continues to get better. We lost a clown trigger when we first got in the hobby and didn't know what we were doing. I still feel we did the dips all wrong and when the fish died in my hand I never quite got over it.
Great fish .. one of my favorites.

ericmcj31 02-23-2008, 8:12 PM so Linda-were you suggesting that we start a forum on FOWLR?? As we have a reef discussion?

Not necessarily FOWLR, but a forum on fish. If you have such questions as
fish research/experience
fish illness/disease
fish compatability
fish behavior
etc.
whether the fish be in a FOWLR or a reef. A forum full of fishes.
:)
ericmcj31 02-23-2008, 8:43 PM I agree, I think that would be a good thing to put on--
LorenK 02-23-2008, 8:46 PM How would this differ from the current Reef section? Basically, that's a general saltwater discussion thread. I think most of the items that pertain to FOWLR also pertain to Reef tanks (with the exception of some species).

He's GONE, But Not Forgotten~! Hated to see that happen, and brings me back to memories of other loses and the reasons I (we) do it again and again? I'm going to let this tank settle some more and try it again
