View Full Version : Aquavitro is here
Showtime305 02-16-2008, 3:37 AM Sorry if I'm late on this but I don't recall seeing this posted yet. I've been waiting on the aquavitro line of products by Seachem to be released and it looks like it may be available soon.
Has anyone heard any reviews on these products?
http://www.aquavitro.com/
mysterybox 02-16-2008, 8:32 AM nope!
I don't see anything that I would want to use anyway.
LiveRock27 02-16-2008, 9:27 AM Marine Fish has the whole line of products.
DannyBradley 02-16-2008, 9:57 AM I was looking aroud the webpage thinking, 'Man, what a rip off of Seache...' *smacks forhead*
DannyBradley 02-16-2008, 10:01 AM Upon further review, the only thing new is the liquid Mg and the packaging. They just rebranded most of their stuff. The concentration is higher in some cases.
Roland Jacques 02-16-2008, 1:04 PM Danny, What was the Balance product before?
Showtime305 02-16-2008, 2:45 PM I think it was Reef Buffer and Marine Buffer.
DannyBradley 02-16-2008, 5:37 PM It was Reef Buffer. Marine buffer has Sodium borate, which can't be used by coral but is great at buffering fish only.
FishyBusiness 02-16-2008, 9:09 PM I think that the new Seachem line looks like expensive shampoo and conditioners. Ask Dave up at Marine Fish. He's a guy that knows chemical compounds left and right and may be doing some experimenting with them.
Seachem 04-03-2008, 4:27 PM Please excuse me if I'm out of line here but I thought I might offer some help in clearing up some questions. I'm hoping that's okay. If not, maybe admin can just delete the post.
aquavitro is completely new. Not a single product is the same as our older Seachem line. It is simply a step back and a look at developing a line given advancement in the overall knowledge of the hobby as well as what we are able to accomplish chemically as a company. It will also be a continually updated line rather than a line added to.
Balance is completely new. It is neither Reef Buffer nor Marine Buffer. Marine Buffer is not just Sodium Borate - its a blend of carbonate and borate sources with a specific pK value to drive pH to 8.3. It can be used in reef aquaria without issue.
We deliberately made the line look different from the other products out there so that it would stand out on the shelves. If you look at so many lines out there including the Seachem range its nice bottles with colorful pictures. We wanted aquavitro to pop out on the shelf and look different so that it would garner some attention as something different.
SShindell 04-03-2008, 4:29 PM Thanks for responding. We LOVE you responding and answering questions - please do not hesitate.
Derek_S 04-03-2008, 4:47 PM The only thing I have a question about is this:

I have heard the contrary to this. It is my understanding that the borate in the 'Reef Buffer' makes it less desirable to use in a reef. I have no empirical evidence why, but I have been told that by more experienced people than myself, and it made sense because otherwise why would 'Reef Buffer' and 'Marine Buffer' be two separate products? The main reason I want to know is because I have a jar I bought a while back that I have not been using because of this.
Seachem 04-03-2008, 5:03 PM Reef Buffer has no borate at all. Its a strictly carbonate / bicarbonate product.
Marine Buffer is a blend of carbonate, bicarbonate and borate sources.
The key difference is that Marine Buffer has a specific pK at about 8.3. So you can be liberal with dosing without much worry of spiking pH. Reef Buffer does not have that aspect. It has more punch to it and can drive the pH beyond 8.3.
The nice new product in aquavitro that combined the best of both worlds is 8.4 http://www.aquavitro.com/Products/eightfour.html It has not borate, is strictly carbonate / bicarbonate based, and has a pK of 8.6. This means it will push alkalinity to where ever you need with out pushing the pH up too high.

I love the stuff. And you staning up for the line is good to see. The balnce and fuel is workin good. when i use up the old Kent stuff, I will use the other products from the line too. I buy from Animart in Austell - Diego and Terri. Try them out.
glxtrix 10-15-2008, 9:13 PM Animart huh...never heard of them. Looks like I'll have to check them out tomorrow.
Seachem 10-16-2008, 10:03 AM Thank you for your kind words about the products. We truly love hearing feedback!
percula 10-16-2008, 12:22 PM Just to throw in on this... since it came back up to the surface... :)
We have been carrying this line for 6 months now? Testing showed that it works extremely well, much like most other Seachem products, and is hard to screw up.
These products are priced extremely competitively, and I think that is why they are our best Seachem Sellers! We have to keep at least an extra 4 boxes in stock all the time!
Go Seachem!
WILLIAM1 10-16-2008, 12:44 PM I have a set of these and have used a couple for about a month now and the balance seems to work quite well as for the fuel not enough time to really see a difference. heres the pic.

Seachem 10-16-2008, 2:21 PM Thanks for all the kind words. Seachem prides itself on having products that actually do what they are supposed to do. We appreciate you sharing your experiences with us and each other!
Amberjack 10-16-2008, 4:39 PM I've been using Kent Marine Superbuffer-dKH since starting the hobby and I've found it difficult to control my pH when doing water changes. Alkalinity is steady @ 1.025 most all the time, but pH flucuates 7.7-8.0. I want to raise pH maybe to 8.1-8.2 without the rebound effect to the SG. Think I'll give this product a try. Thanx for the info Seachem.
Seachem 10-16-2008, 5:53 PM Please keep us informed on how it works for you. I think you'll be very pleased.
