A number of people have had issues with the automatic payments that paypal does. The biggest issue is that a) it's not clear that it's auto-renewin and b) it catches people off gaurd.

And I agree- something needs to be done to alert people.

My first idea was an email - maybe something sent out 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day before the subscription renews, with instructions on how to cancel it if they so choose.

And/or, possibly we could do something like this (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=128735) (see attachment).

I'm not sure the above hack would work with automatic subscriptions, but I think it would.

Comments?

I like the pic concept attached.

So if I am understanding it correctly, this will not be an automatic process.... The member will have to click on that option to renew the sybscription.

I prefer this concept vs. the automatic renewal.

I like either and think they will both serve the purpose you intend.

I think the email idea would be best. Something based of the renew date, with a link to renew and one to cancel. IMO this should still go with auto-renew,.. this would just be a reminder.

The other idea (although I didn't study it in detail) seemed a bit complicated and might be more trouble then it's worth. Just my opinon :)
