Hey Raj,

Not to be a snob, but do we know what brand this is? I ask only because the one I have from Dr F&S is great but the line that shows your level is a little blurry so it's very hard to tell "exactly" where I am at. I kind of guesstimate between .023-.025. So, I want a better one and was just wondering if this was the same one.....it looks similar but I imagine they all do.

did you try focusing it??..lines will appear to be indistinct if not focused..try turning the end eyepiece..

I have the Dr F&S and as above if you focus it clear as a bell.

Yeah, I mess around with the focus knob a good bit.....it's not so much that it's blurry but that it almost looks like it has two lines., a really thick one and then a really narrow one and they are pretty close together....I did drop it once so I think that may have something to do with it but it was always a little tough to read, even with the focusing. Who knows? Maybe I received a damaged one and just never thought to do anything about it.

And Mark, you are right as well, maybe its that my head is all messed up....I took a good hit to my head last night in my game.

If you think about it, for $57 you can join the ARC and buy a refractometer. It would cost you at least that much to purchase just a refratometer at any store. Can't beat the deal

I own this refractometer and have used it for several years. I have had no issues with it whatsoever. Very clear and simple to calibrate.

I have one that has a blurry line also. But it was nice & crips before it was fully submugred in RO water over night. I had to take it apart to dry it. When i put it togther the line became blurry .023-.025 like yours. I plain on taking it apart again and trying to fix that but their is a lot of parts in thier. It would be esaier just to buy a new one. But I dont think it a brand thing.

Patty, from here you just sit tight. It will take about a week for us to get them in and they should be available for pick up at the next meeting. If you can not make it to the next meeting, they can be picked up from Raj (the PB coord)
