when I had shopped for an RO/DI last xmas, a few people here suggested a vendor on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-6-stage-100-GPD-Reverse-Osmosis-RO-DI-Water-Filters_W0QQitemZ120032014126QQihZ002QQcategoryZ20 684QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

well here I am 9 months later, and Ive finally decided it doesnt work lol.

bottom line, it seems backwords. when I close the valve I get 50gph our of the unit. about 50x more than I should... meanwhile, I get drips of waste water.

alternatively when I open the valve, I get very little out of the output, and tons of waste water.

no, I dont have my valve instructions backwards, that much Im positive of.

I have emailed the seller, but he just gave me instructions on how it should work, and I have that part right.

anyway, curious if anyone has any tips for me, any common mistakes I could be making.

I think you are supposed to get more waste water than output water...

I get about 3-4 gallons of bad water to 1 gal of good water. Does your ratio seem worse than that?

How is your water pressure?

The temp of the water will also affect the speed. You want the coldest water from the tap. Warmer water speeds it up, but its recommended to use cold water.

I was the opposite, way more output than waste.

but I just figured it out.

it didnt come with the RO filter in... so there was no resistance on the flow. (nor filtering to the water...). I assumed it was in there, the other 5 filters were in place and assembled.

problem solved! only took 9 months!
