Thanks for being an early adopter!

Oh yeah, nice tank! Love the BTAs on the side.

What size tank is that sump?

sand is for people who like watching their tank slowly die ;) You and I could go back and forth about this all day :) Now I'm waiting for Jeremy to jump in on this too, lol.

I am actually a little disappointed that Chris beat me to the punch. If I hold up a piece of cardboard so I cant see the bottom it looks AWESOME.

If I hold a piece of cardboard so I cant see the top, it looks like an live rock cycling tank. Yeeck!

Now, lets have some specs. IE_ what bulbs, ballasts, reflectors, skimmer, calcium and alk supplementation, etc.

That is gorgeous. BTW, when you are ready to part with a RBTA put me at the top of that list.

lol, nobody will give me as much crap a you do :) Alright tank is as follows.

140BB with 55g sump.
3xLumenBright reflectors with 3x175W Iwasaki 15K ran by 3 ARO ballasts.
2x110W URI VHO Actinics ran off an ARO ballast.
Custom made stand and flip top canopy.
Currently I dose with my own mixtures of a two part and use Kalk in my DIY reactor. Shortly I hope to have a calcium reactor.
Skimmer is an Octopus NW150. Recirculated, venturi drilled and gate valve mode down by myself. This skimmer will be switched out for an Octopus NW200 with the same mods this weekend.
Salinity - 1.026
pH - ?
CA - 450
ALK - 14 dkh
Mg - 1800
Circulation is 2xTunze 6000's on a 7095 controller and the return pump which is a MAG9.5.......tho possibly going to down size that.

Ummmm, thats about all I know. Any questions feel free to ask.

I think you've misquoted. It should say "Sand is for people who like watching their tank PERIOD".

Bare bottom is for people who dont have enough faith in their skill and ability to manage an aquarium like every reasonable aquarist has done for the past 50 years.

lol Cameron, you'll be on the list but not at the top.....seriously there have prolly been a good 50 people asking for it. Eventually I'll sell a split, but they arent going to be cheap. I've had this bad boy for 3 years now and its never shown a bad day in its life.

Hmmm i thought it was the other way around.....I know people who cant keep the lifestyle of a BB because they end up killing everything. Sad how you people must rely on sand to make your tank work....when eventually you get lazy enough and it crashes on you.....tisk tisk.

Thats just what they tell you because they hate the way it looks.;)

In honesty, the most of the people I have heard of going from DSB to BB have done so because they were "nervous" about the DSB becoming a detritus trap, which to me is laziness. DSB crashes occur after extensive neglect, or catasrophic event and neglect (ie-power outrage with no back up plan). I havent really heard of many people not being ABLE to keep a BB tank, just not WANTING to keep a BB tank. But then again, I dont pay much attention to that debate.

That being said, all BSing aside, you tank is tight. No ifs, and, or BButs. Sorry, I had to sneakl that in.

I don't rely on sand to make my tank work - I rely on it to make it look like the ocean... which is, after all, what we do this for... :)

Regarding the Feb TOTM.... they made the tank of the month despite the fact they had sand - just think of how awesome it'd be if they added sand! :)

Hmmm Mike and Sal just got 5 RBTA's in their shop. Give them a call if you want one sooner Cameron.

Lee, the tank is looking good. I thought if you had no sand that means you can scrape the algae around the corners and the bottom easier :) Doesnt show in the pics. J/K

Alright I hooked them up to my computers PS and here they are. Not too sure what they are going to do on my tank....if anything. But they seem pretty bright. Maybe this weekend I'll do a little modding.

It looks to me like that tank needs a good cleaning and a bunch of ARC-donated SPS frags.

What's the reason for the huge change? I didn't see that in the thread you linked.

Here ya go Mark, some updated pics of the tank. The first one is a month before I sold everything. And now as it is. Once I sold off most of my SPS I switched from my Iwasaki lamps to the Reeflux 12K...Didn't need all that PAR seeing as though I was going to go mostly softies. It's kinda sad seeing the before and after....but I guess these things happen.
