This Saturday, we will have our first tour of tanks of 2008. It will be in Cobb County, starting around the 285 area and ending at Sal & Mike's new store SALTWATER CITY near the Wade Green Exit.

Brad and Rawn are working on routing the tour now, so we will announce the meeting spot soon. We plan to start meeting at 11am Saturday, with the tour begining at 12 noon.

We are trying to get as many people to carpool as possible so try to be prepared to either ride with someone else for the tour, or have someone ride with you. We are choosing a meeting spot where people can leave their vehicle.

Please consider coming to this event as the last tour proved to be a wonderful way to meet other people in the club and was a great social event in general.

Thanks

The ONLY weekend I am out of town and I will miss the tour in my own backyard! Dang! Looking forward to Saltwater City opening since it will be 5 mins away! (That could be a really BAD thing for my addiction).

I would like to attend and will be my first tour of reefs, so don't know if there is a cost of any kind. I can get to the meeting spot just fine (where ever that may be at), but would like to catch a ride with somebody.

No cost involved but I am sure that the person who is carpooling for not turn down a few bucks for gas given the price of gas!!

I am also going to try and make it for this. It will be my first tour and I need to meet more people anyways.

We will be meeting at Optimum Aquarium between 11am and 12 pm on Saturday, January 26. I was looking for a near by restaurant, but was told everything was packed in that area that time on Saturday. I've spoken with Greg at Optimum, so they are expecting to see us there.

Optimum Aquarium
2960 Shallowford Rd
Marietta, GA 30066

There's no plans to stop for food at this point, but Rawn and I thought about organizing a group to go out to dinner after we left Saltwater City and the end of the tour, so consider joining us for that as well.

If anyone has any questions, please PM me or feel free to call me at 404 402 7764.

Thank you all in advance for coming out and sharing the joy of reefing!

I'm hoping the idea of incorporating sponsors into the tour of tanks turns out well, please let me know any thoughts you members might have about this.

Thank you to all that turns out for this and look forward to seeing you there!

I think it is a great idea. Getting a lot of reefers to start at an LFS is more traffic for them and rewards them for being a sponser.

OK we will be starting at Optimum aquarium( 2960 Shallowford Rd NE,Marietta, GA 30066 770-565-3935) and ending at Optimum aquarium for those that can carpool.I have attached printed directions starting at Optimum.

Below are the directions to Optimum from I-75

Exit 267A Travel east on Canton Rd Connector about 1.5 miles
Turn right on Sandy Plains Rd about 5 miles
Turn left on to Shallowford Rd
Turn left at the first enterence to the shopping center and you are there.

Disclaimer: This was all done with MS streets and trips. I have not had time to drive this and follow directions so no personal damage to the navagator if they are a little off. J/K LOL

We'll also have written directions pre-printed for attendees, to be handed out at the beginning of the Tour of Tanks, just incase we get seperated.

I would love to come but 60 miles seems like alot! I am close and live in cherokee county. I will see.

Its really not that far, last tour of tanks was much further. I drove 45 miles to the start point of the last tour and it was still very much worth it. Its a great way to socialize with other members.

I know what Dakota went through trying to set this up. I would think 60 miles would be a standard and we live all over Atlanta. Dakota tried to confine this to one area but a round trip anywhere to do this is going to be long. This just gives us time to meet each other and enjoy the afternoon. Come join and enjoy

Thanks to everyone for setting this all up, especially Dakota and Roundman! Looking forward to showing off the 160 Cube and my fishroom. I should have some frags for everyone also as a parting gift. Do we have an idea on how many are coming on the tour?

Wow, what a nice gesture, Mark!!! You're giving frags in addition to hot buttered rum and hors d'oeuvres? What a guy!

I honestly thought about some appetizers but I think serving shrimp dip and bacon wrapped clams would be a little wierd!

Not at all Mark. I'm up for some shrimp dip! If that dammmned coral banded shrimp hadn't bit the dust a few months back I'd even have a contribution to the dip recipe!

Tyler, you can ride with me. I was on the fence about going, but I need to go to support the club. I would also be willing to drive, if necessary. I have a van that seats 8 (including the driver). Gas money and/or frags accepted.

I had a great time, thanks for organizing this rawn and john! All the tanks I saw were very nice in different ways. It was enlightening!

Although I wasn't scheduled to be part of the tour, I thank you guys for stopping by. See T5 lights can grow sps very nicely :).

Anyways, Patron, one of our pups had a mouthful of faux fur. I'm assuming he was chewing on someone's jacket. Anyone know who I owe an apology to and recompensation? :(

t'was fishgardener (Sheryl's) jacket. I thought I'd rescued it in time.

Thanks, Rawn & Dakota for organizing this and to all who showed up for the tour. We had a bigger turn-out than expected and it was the most fun I've had in a long time.

Thanks in order also to our chauffeurs (Rawn & Barbara). The conversation during the drives between stops was great and the time flew by.

Jin's tank was a nice bonus and the chocolate-covered strawberries were super!!! Not sure what happened to our plan to keep Jin dstracted while we raided his tank of amazing corals, fish and the coveted RBTA??? Maybe the get-away vehicle was not advantageously parked?

Watch for pictures coming soon of the tanks: Eric, David, Mark & Jin. Truly, they were all inspirations.

Optimum Aquarium -- beautiful store. What clean tanks!

Saltwater City -- can't wait. Nice to have a sneak-peak but torture that we couldn't buy anything!

Hope we can do this again soon.

Keep up the GOOD WORK and thanks for allowing us to come view!

Linda - couldn't say it any better than this...all the tanks were wonderful and was a treat to go to an unannounced stop on the tour.

The company on the trip was superb and all asked questions at each stop. I think we all learned several things and got ideas from each place we visited.
