That breaking live rock was a pain in the ***. I just received my order from liveAquaria.com for 30pds of Lalo live rock. The rock looks good **** good.

The shipping was A+ and I had very little rubble as you can see it was mostly in one big slab.

I’m just upset that I made so much rubble and didn’t get the 4 big pieces that I wanted. I used a hammer and rock chisel broke my screwdriver before that. I don’t have a sump and I want to do something with the small pieces. What are my options can I glue some of the rubble together to make a big rock??

I also have 4 polyps 2 fell off the rock while breaking it up. Do you think any will come back to life?? I included a pic of something in the rock I have no idea what it is mantis shrimp shell maybe???

Razor clam shell. Very sharp edge. It seems a shame to ship a big rock to make chips. But yes, AquaStick epoxy from HomeDepot or any LFS will hold rock together again.

Best way is dry rock without any bacteria/algae film, but pushing the epoxy into the small crevices so that a mechanical bond is created usually is the best we can achieve. That is to say the epoxy will harden and if it encapsulates sufficient irregularities of the rock it will maintain that position. There is no need to cure the epoxy in air. Just push into all the surface texture as best you can & do not disturb. If you were mounting several large pieces like your original then you could look into ty-wraps or plastic rods for reinforcement.

Hey guys live rock has been curing since September 14. I tested it today Nitrate 10 Nitrite 0 alkalinity 300 ph 8.3.

Am I good to go? I got 30pd that am adding to an established tank. Should I add it all at once or a little here a little there?

Its hard to say if it is ready. It really couldn't hurt to wait another week. Better safe than sorry.

That rock looks nice on the outside but appears to be quite dense. I like my rock more on the porous side.

Uncured

uncured rock can take up to 6 months to cure...

I usually let cured rock sit in the tank 6-8 weeks before adding a cleanup crew since much more is happening than just a nitrogen cycle. I would recommend waiting a little longer.
