View Full Version : Jan BoD Meeting
Xyzpdq0121 01-16-2008, 6:05 PM Ok, sorry for the late post on this guys and girls, I know that used to annoy me last year that I did not have enough time to plan for the BoD meetings but we have had trouble locking up a date, time and location.
The Place:
PBS&J
1800 Parkway Place, Suite 1200
Marietta, GA 30067
The Date and Time:
Saturday Jan 19th @ 10:30am
Please post if you are planning on making it so we know you are coming and make sure we are set up to seat everyone. I WILL NOT change the date, time and/or location any more. It is hard wnough to get the 8 people that are on the BoD to agree on a time much less the 50 other people that owuld like to be there!
On the agenda to be presented, discussed and/or voted on by the BoD:
Lifting the ban on non-local sponsors.
Power Buy rules and how to get the best deals for the club.
Presentation by LorenK on a library project for the club
Discussion of the "bulb library" for the club
Discussion of regional groups within the club
Upcoming speakers
Budget review and report
MACNA Update
Mods for the forums
The Rants and Raves section
Website additions
Non-members and role they will play in the club
Membership benefits
Feburary Frag meeting
And anything else we have time for that people have PMed me about.
So, as you can tell this is going to be a jammed packed meeting with plenty of hot topics to be discussed. I have scheduled it on a weekend so people from Macon and other far off areas can attend and speak what is on the mind.

Ok, so if anyone wants anything, it will be in my truck after the meeting. I will not bring any extra stuff to sell. So if you want anything please preorder it.
:fish:
TriGa22 01-17-2008, 7:45 PM I will try to be there.
Lifestudent 01-17-2008, 9:47 PM Brandon, NOAA is currently forecasting snow Fri night/Sat AM. Is there an alternate date being planned just in case?
Thanks,
Bob
Xyzpdq0121 01-18-2008, 1:32 AM Chance of precip is 20% and the rain/snow if it moves in is not suppost to move in till later that evening. If the case be, we can reschedule due to weather but I doubt it will come to that.
BeesBaby 01-18-2008, 9:10 AM My hiking partner cancelled tomorrow, so I'll be there.
Helene
Linda Lee 01-18-2008, 9:14 AM I'll be there.
Also looking for a loaner lap-top to take minutes, since Brandon's making sure this meeting will last hours and hours. These old, arthritic hands, ya know......?
If someone could bring a laptop which has MSWord or Word Perfect, please let me know. File can be saved on the laptop and emailed back to me later.
Thanks!!!

Linda, I'll bring mine to the meeting for you to use. I've got MS Office 2007 and quite easy to use.
Cameron 01-18-2008, 4:39 PM I may try and make it, but you just had to schedule it on my motorcycle show day and at 10:30am... ouch!

Come on bud...that's they created VCR's and recording devices to allow you to do other things while the show is being taped. Look at it this way - when you get back, you'll be able to fast forward through them awful commercials.

Unless he's talking about a particular *live show* (https://buytickets.motorcycleshows.com/tickets.aspx?sh=525) ....?
Lifestudent 01-19-2008, 12:24 AM Since google maps cannot locate this meeting place, can someone provide a link to a map that shows us where it's located?
Thanks!

Xyzpdq0121 01-19-2008, 9:43 AM Ok guys... I am looking at the weather and all appears to be well, anyone have any concerns about driving? It is just rain up here but looks like a bit of light snow out in Douglasville. Road conditions around the city appear to be fine though.
Linda Lee 01-19-2008, 9:45 AM No concerns here, but I'd like to have everyone's cellphone number, if you'll PM it to me. I've been meaning to add a *group* contact list to my cell.
Linda Lee 01-19-2008, 9:47 AM Brandon, I've been to a B.o.D. meeting, but only as a member. Should I make a sign-in sheet for the meeting to keep with the minutes in a binder?

Hmm- they're predicting 1-3" of snow and sleet starting around 9-10am. Temperatures are dropping.
It may end up not being an issue, but I'd move the meeting if it were me, just out of respect for people's safety...
roundman 01-19-2008, 10:20 AM Lets make decision I need to leave if we are
tnyga 01-19-2008, 10:21 AM snow shmo....
Linda Lee 01-19-2008, 10:22 AM I didn't think about the *return* trip.
Anyone have Brandon's cell? I think he may have already left.
tnyga 01-19-2008, 10:23 AM pm sent
tim8111 01-19-2008, 10:23 AM Lets make decision I need to leave if we are
I agree. I should have already left..... I don't want to drive 50 miles for nothing. :)
LorenK 01-19-2008, 10:25 AM i do...sending it to you Linda.
I'm not to thrilled about the prospects...my wife gave me look about going.
Linda Lee 01-19-2008, 10:27 AM I spoke with Brandon. Meeting is still on. We only need 4 for a quorum.
Problem is this: if we don't have it today, we can't have it next weekend, due to T.o.T. And then we're into February.
Make if it you can. If you can't, I'll try to take comprehensive minutes.
tim8111 01-19-2008, 10:28 AM I am going to head out soon, can someone call me at 678-524-4080. If they cancel the meeting.
Thanks

Will do. But as of now, there is no cancellation.
There's no way we can have 2 B.o.D. meetings next month, with February being a short month.
Linda Lee 01-19-2008, 10:37 AM Linda, I'll bring mine to the meeting for you to use. I've got MS Office 2007 and quite easy to use.
Thank you!!!
See you there
Xyzpdq0121 01-19-2008, 10:39 AM It is still going down. I have talked to 4 BoD members who will be there so we have enough to hold a meeting
Dakota9 01-19-2008, 10:46 AM Hi, just stepped out the door to leave for the meeting and its sleeting. I'm near the airport, and need to drive quite a distance, in a light pick up, with my 6yo in tow. I'm thinking I have no choice but to cancel on the BoD meeting. I'm very sorry, but it just isn't worth the risk to life and limb.....
Cameron 01-19-2008, 10:47 AM Omw
tnyga 01-19-2008, 10:49 AM Im working or this yankee would come
Linda Lee 01-19-2008, 10:53 AM I'm not worried about driving in it. I'm worried about all the southerners that don't know how to drive in it. And the lack of snow removal equipment for the Atlanta Metro area.

Not to change subject....Hows your car?

When the snow changed to sleet the other day, I pased by 3 different car accidents on the way home.
Sorry to bale on you guys, but I'm not a board member anyway, was just going to do a lil shpeel on where we were on the regional groups idea. If my kid wasn't with me, it'd be worth the risk, but see no reason to bring him out in this.
tnyga 01-19-2008, 11:14 AM God first, Fish second, family thrird...Wheres you priorities Man?! ;)
BeesBaby 01-19-2008, 11:31 AM Yeah, I left this morning at 8:45 there was no problem. Then around 9:30 after having breakfast, it started to rain/sleet a little bit. By the time I got to I-75, it was sleeting pretty steadily then and got heavier at the exit to S Marietta Pkwy - cross under the bridge and bam, started snowing. But got to meeting place just fine and am comfy and cozy inside.

We missed ya but do not worry, I do not want you to take the risk with the little one. Nothing is that important. We had a great meeting and got a lot done. We will upload the notes shortly.
Linda Lee 01-20-2008, 9:33 AM Good meeting.
Many thanks to PBS&J (and Kevin/Katrina) for use of the meeting space. Great locale!

Roads here get iced which is far different than snow.
Course people here can't drive in rain much less snow or ice.
Cameron 01-20-2008, 11:41 AM Good meeting.
