What next large mod do people want from the polling list?

although I voted for photo album, a wiki would be nice if we could build it up big. it would be an ongoing process though. i know i can search the internet for care of different animals and specs of equipment but hearing personal experience and opinion from people you know close by mean a lot more.

Wiki would be my second choice.

So many chat programs available already. We could always do a group chat on MSN Messenger, AIM or Yahoo if need be. If we were a world-wide organization with members spanning the globe, I could see the need for a chatroom, but most of us are local enough that phone calls are not toll and get-togethers are possible.

Questions for webmasters:

Is a photo album feature that difficult to do? It seems like if we had someone who volunteered to maintain the albums (and we have), it would be no extra burden on LorenK or mojo.

Just a thought. I think tastefully arranged and organized photogalleries of well-taken photos would be an such a neat attraction for this website. I hope this can happen.

Another plug for the photo album feature.

We could divide the albums into two sections

1] Social Events Albums
---Fun Outings
---Meetings
---Events (i.e., Macna)

2] Educational Albums
----Coral ID
----Fish ID
----Algae ID
----Worms/Parasite ID
----Fish/Coral Disease ID
----Sump/Refugium/Overflow Designs

i.e., whenever someone had a particular *algae* needing identification and posts a picture of that algae, once it's positively identified, it could be added to that album with a caption denoting what it is and possibly a link back to the original thread.

I think the albums could be more than fun. They could be a valuable asset to the club. The albums could even be a draw for the club if people outside the ARC started using them as a reference tool.


Just more thoughts.

The problem isn't getting it going - it's the support. You'd be suprised at how much ongoing support there is with the basics- people not being able to upload pictures, people can't login, etc. It's hard to get motivated to add new things when people get stuck with the basics... I'm glad Loren is here to help now- maybe we can move forward and I can get over my burn-out phase... :)

Chris, you've done so much to make this such an awesome site -- didn't someone say at the B.O.D. meeting that the ARC has the best reef club site on the 'Net and that people from outside the area had made that comment?.

Kudos to you. Sorry about the burnout, but I for one appreciate all you've done and believe the toil was worth it. I hope you can just sit back and enjoy your creation a bit.
