View Full Version : scuba photos
Scubagirl12 12-31-2007, 8:05 PM I have been requested to post some of my underwater photos so here we go. I usually have a problem picking favorites so get ready for lots!
This is also my first time posting photos.
All of these were taken this past summer in the Bahamas, New Providence island.
jade76 12-31-2007, 8:12 PM those are beautiful!!!
Scubagirl12 12-31-2007, 8:14 PM also in the bahamas
Scubagirl12 12-31-2007, 8:15 PM i did not take these but they are of my dad and i. stingray city, grand cayman
SuAsati 12-31-2007, 8:29 PM gorgeous.
Scubagirl12 12-31-2007, 8:31 PM now all of these are from Roatan, one of the bay islands of Honduras. My parents, my college roommate (who ironically dives as well) and I stayed at Anthony's Key Resort. I would recommend it in a heart beat. I did over 20 dives in a week! We are planning to got back in the near future but may stay on the island of Utila and cross our fingers for some whale sharks!
BeesBaby 12-31-2007, 8:36 PM Wonderful pictures you've got there, not to mention the memories you are able to draw from when you look at these at a later date. Noticed that you are in college - are you planning to major in photography and/or oceanography (is that a word for somebody who studies ocean life???)
Anyway, great pix and keep being a photobug!
ericmcj31 12-31-2007, 9:04 PM Sweet pics. SG--wish I were there too--how long you been diving?
roundman 12-31-2007, 10:28 PM Very nice pictures
mysterybox 12-31-2007, 10:35 PM about time you posted those pics! lol!
absolutely gorgeous! wow!
Thanks!
Ralph
Scubagirl12 01-01-2008, 4:08 AM yes i posted them just for you ralph. well.. and everyone else. ha
certification was my 12th birthday present. that was the youngest you could get certified at the time. i now have advanced, several specialties, and over 50 dives in almost 8 years.
beesbaby- if i didnt suck at math i would be studying marine biology. i love the ocean to death and everything in it from the bioluminescent dinoflagellates to whale sharks.
after my realization that i suck at math a few years ago i felt called towards peace corps. i am an interdisciplinary studies major which basically means i make my own. its called cultural documentary and a mix between visual communications (all the photos, video, journalism stuff) and anthropology and international relations. my dream job, after some mission work, would be an underwater cinematographer for someone like the BBC.
now that i've told you my life plans, enjoy some more photos!
the first one isnt a great shot but it was the only one i could get. i swear that puffer was 2 feet long!
Scubagirl12 01-01-2008, 4:17 AM these are still in Roatan. pictures 2-7 are at night. the parrotfish is proof that fish do sleep.
Scubagirl12 01-01-2008, 4:22 AM can anyone make out the two clear/blue shrimp in the background of the second to last picture? ive never seen them in the aquarium trade but they sure are pretty.
Scubagirl12 01-01-2008, 4:32 AM Roatan again.
Fourth: thats my kind of schedule! dive at 8, 10:30, 2:30 and 6:15
Fifth: amazing dive boat. especially when there's only 3-6 divers, you have the same captain and divemaster the whole week, and dive sites are 1-5 minutes away.
Seventh: the island we stayed one as viewed from the restaurant.
Eighth: native fire dancer
Scubagirl12 01-01-2008, 4:44 AM also, please check out my scuba videos. one is from a shark feeding dive in the bahamas and the other is a collaboration of a whole week in roatan. the video is from a compact sony camera, therefore, not great quality. but nevertheless interesting!

Corigan 01-01-2008, 6:53 AM Great Pictures. I've been to AKR and loved diving in Roatan. Next time I go I was thinking about going to Cocoview Resort just for the front yard reef. Shore diving at 3 in the morning sounds very appealing.. :D
Thanks for the pics! Great shots of the flaming tongue nudi's.
Matt
purpleGORILLA 01-01-2008, 8:42 AM Very nice...
mysterybox 01-01-2008, 12:14 PM you have some fantastic underwater pics! great job!
Scubagirl12 01-01-2008, 2:48 PM thanks everyone! and all those are shot with a 3.2 megapixel compact sony!
andregarcia_73 01-01-2008, 9:34 PM Great Pics! I Bet You Had Fun!
Fantastic Pics....I think the coolest thing is that we have a part of that ocean in our homes where the fish you see in the pics are thriving in our very own living rooms. The thought of that is awesome to me...
Thanks for sharing!
Scubagirl12 01-03-2008, 11:59 PM i found some more hiding on my external hard drive. these are in the keys.
Scubagirl12 01-04-2008, 12:02 AM keys still.
doesnt the parrotfish looks like he is laughing at me?!
Amici 01-04-2008, 12:25 AM Holy crap what part of the keys did you go diving in! The area I went did NOT look like that!
Scubagirl12 01-04-2008, 12:30 AM ha.
i cant say for sure but i have dove primarily in islamorada and key large the couple of times ive been there.
the keys are definitely my least favorite but somehow i managed some decent photos. i hate how fish are fearful and that there is an obvious presence of mishap divers.
last time i went viz sucked. it doesnt not even compare to places like roatan and hawaii.
Amici 01-04-2008, 12:37 AM Haha well crap my house is in Marathon and I went there and Islamorada too. I guess I was just in the wrong area. Yeah its not my favorite diving but considering that its the only truly tropical water within driving distance.
Scubagirl12 01-04-2008, 12:38 AM these are from the boston aquarium. i went during the weekday so i had the chance to gaze into the smaller tanks and really watch all the fish. i have yet to have had that opportunity at the GA aquarium since there's so many people!
Scubagirl12 01-04-2008, 12:42 AM more boston aquarium
Cameron 01-04-2008, 10:52 AM I hope you finally got that monkey off your back...
