I hate to be a tattletale, but I went to two local fish stores this past week that wouldn't give me the ARC discount.

I went to Petland in Duluth, bought a small item and was told by the clerk that they no longer honor the ARC discount, but they would give me a 10% discount under their club. I hated the way she acted like she was doing me a favor.

On Sunday I went to Cappucino Bay and bought $55 worth of coral. The owner told me she couldn't give me the discount because the coral was "marked too low". What is that all about? I didn't see anything in the store indicating that no discounts could be applied to the items. I've spent about $400 on coral the past six months in the store, so consider myself a regular customer there... 10% is not a huge discount to honor!

I think club sponsors should have to honor whatever discounts they have pledged to club members, or the ARC should be able to re-evaluate them as "true" sponsors.

Stores aren't required to honor the discount on sale items. I know many of the smaller items at Cappuccino Bay are on sale or on discount, so many times don't qualify for the discount. We have a good relationship with CBA, and they have always honored discounts, so I'd be surprised if something was off here.

As for Petland - it's likely that the store clerk doesn't know about the ARC discount. I'll talk to mufret, our sponsor coordinator, about stopping by and checking with them.

I dont think that there not doing ARC discounts. I went by there and bought some stuff the other day. They said that they dont want people showing the ARC card to get the discount so you go there and show them your card once and then they give you a petland discount card which gives you 10% off. The manager was really nice about it. Im sure the girl just didnt know what she was talking about.
